pneumatician
When I now run FSX on my new "Superputer" I7, 2060 Graphics an 32 MB ram with 3 screens after a few minutes it shuts down and advises insufficient memory. Any ideas why? 20 20 runs fine on the new PC. FSX ran fine on my old I5 16MB PC.

loki
FSX is a 32 bit application and, as such, can only access a max of 4 GB of virtual address space (VAS). Depending on the add-ons you have installed it is possible to run into the limit, at which point the sim will crash. Photoscenery and complex add-ons like those from PMDG are big contributors to VAS usage. Corrupted scenery add-ons can also cause problems too. PMDG has an excellent article, linked below, that goes into more detail and has some options to look into. https://support.precisionmanuals.com/kb/a108/vas-management-stopping-out-of-memory-oom-errors.aspx And here is another one. https://kostasfsworld.wordpress.com/fsx-oom-and-addon-vas-usage/
pomak249
Have you got Highmemfix=1 under your [GRAPHICS] tab in your fsx.cfg? i5 4690 (350mhz) with Arctic Cooler, 32GB Patriot Viper 1600mhz, ASUS Rock H97 performance MoBo, MSI Ventus XS OC 1660GTX 6GB, Windows10 64bit, 256GB and 500GB Crucial SSDs
jorgen.s.andersen
To put it in a different way - you can have all the RAM in the world, FSX will still be limited to the 4 GB of VAS that Loki mentions. This is a hard limit, and there is no way around that except to get hold of the source code and recompile the whole thing to a 64-bit application. This actually has been done, and the end result is basically Prepar3D v. 4 and later. For doing what you can do with FSX as it is, take a look at the two links that Loki provided, and here's a third to a sticky, posted in this forum by Kosta: https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?259352-FSX-P3D-Software-and-Hardware-Tweaking-Guide Jorgen
