miatamariner
There have been several posts here about various aircraft, both AI and 3rd party, that simply disappear from view in various situations. I had my first instance today and am intrigued by which this happens. Out of 70+ aircraft in my hangar, this is the only one to exhibit this characteristic. The model is the PT IL-62M. There were two views where it disappeared. Those being both with external cameras in Tower and Fly-By views. And only when using the Zoom factor of below 5.00. Go to 4.00 and the aircraft disappears. AT 5.00 and above , it reappears. I just did a fictional repaint of this aircraft and was wondering if that process had anything to do with it, so I re-installed the aircraft from the original download from Simviation, and it still disappears under the mentioned camera views and zoom levels, as my repaint. So I have to rule out textures, I think! Really weird. Just wondering.
mrzippy
Maybe this thread will help? https://orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/90633-disappearing-plane-bodies-in-external-views/ Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!
miatamariner
Thanks Zip. All very interesting points brought up in that post. The one that I think may have credibility to my set up is that the IL-62M was originally designed for FS9 although I have numerous FS9 AC that I use in FSX with no problems whatsoever. I am also curious as to the saved flight plan thread. I have noticed that after loading any AC that a previously saved flight plan is automatically appearing in my GPS without loading it from the FSX sub menu. But then again, the dropping textures are only happening with the IL-62M. A puzzle for which many simmers have offered possible causes and solutions, but not for my experience. Just have to chalk it up to an anomaly.
napamule2
Might we consider this: LOD of model in FS9 -vs- LOD of model in FSX (especially when used as AI)? AI Optimizer might fix? Hi-Mem Fix ALONE might not do it? Reload (of anything) might not do it? Chuck B Napamule i7 2600K @ 3.4 Ghz (Turbo-Boost to 3.877 Ghz), Asus P8H67 Pro, Super Talent 8 Gb DDR3/1333 Dual Channel, XFX Radeon R7-360B 2Gb DDR5, Corsair 650 W PSU, Dell 23 in (2048x1152), Windows7 Pro 64 bit, MS Sidewinder Precision 2 Joy, Logitech K-360 wireless KB & Mouse, Targus PAUK10U USB Keypad for Throttle (F1 to F4)/Spoiler/Tailhook/Wing Fold/Pitch Trim/Parking Brake/Snap to 2D Panel/View Change. Installed on 250 Gb (D:). FS9 and FSX Acceleration (locked at 30 FPS).

HIGHMEMFIX=1 already in my FSX cfg file and that didn't cure it either!
