Is it possible to use FSX planes and scenery in MFS 2020

Some FSX planes have been ported over with limited success, but FSX scenery isn't compatible at all.

Why is it taking so long for aircraft add ons to be developed for MSFS? This was the great beauty of FSX.

1. Because the SDK is a work in progress.

 

2. Because MSFS was released on Aug 18th, less than 2 months ago.

 

3. Because most of the work needs to be done from scratch.

 

4. Because most of the FSX planes you are referring to were FS2004 planes ported over to FSX, big difference.

I had one of the first add on planes for FSX, a Nakajima L2D2, a plane that was essentially a DC-3 with Mitsubishi Kinsei 43 engines. All that was needed was to replace the engine specifications and do some minor tweaking to the remainder of the .air and aircraft.config files. This was done a few weeks after release, because MicroSoft made the .air and aircraft.config files easily accessible, and easily editable. The new sim buries the files deep within the hidden file structure, and the SDK has not really been completed to tell us how to edit them. Asobo sort of admits, that this was to give the payware partners an advantage before freeware aircraft became available.
