surrodox2001
Posted here for visibility. I tried running FS98 with Nvidia cards on their latest drivers on Windows 7 and gets broken graphics, and you can't switch views without the view going blank and occasionally cause a CTD. What's happening here? Does that could be solved?
stretch
You know almost all software reaches a point it becomes so outdated it will no longer perform on a current operating system. I loved FS98 also but it may be time for you to move forward with a newer sim. Cheers, Aaron Aaron
surrodox2001
Well, it's like a 'for fun' experiment to see how older sims runs on newer systems. I suspect this might be a recent driver problem as I couldn't find any threads about this. So yeah, FS98 is broke on Nvidia Windows 7/10!
stretch
I do that stuff too for fun. I loaded a copy of Unreal Tournament from like 2004 onto Windows 7 and it ran like a jewel! I could not believe it! Cheers, Aaron Aaron

il88pp
Try Right click and then Run in XP sp3 mode. If that fails try right-click the shortcut then click details then click startup options , then select run with minimal display settings. I'm not 100% sure if that's what that mode is called by the way I don't use it much. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
stempski
Many of the newer nVidia cards will ONLY run on 64 bit systems. I have a RTX 2060 S that does not have any 32 bit drivers. So, I had to abandon Windows 7 in my dual boot system. The card simply cannot be run on a 32 bit system. When I log into Win7, i have to use generic drivers with a max resolition of 1200x800. Which looks pretty funky on a 34" 21:9 4k capable monitor. Asus Z590 P, Intel I7-10700K, nVidia RTX 4070, 64gb ram(3200), 2 nvme ssd (2 tb total), Samsung QN90B 43" 4k@120hz, Bose Companion 5 PC speakers, Velocity Flight One
UPHILL3
No disrespect to you but FS98 is about 6 or 7 MS flight sim generations ago! It's as if you were still using an IBM Selectric typewriter... Sorry for that jab. But perhaps you could find a copy of a somewhat later FS version on Ebay or somewhere? CTarana45
I have no problems running Fs98 under Windows 7 32 Bit! Fs2002 does CTD when trying to change the view options! I would suggest possibably changing the settings in Fs98! Thanks, Guys! Christopher Tarana
