westway
Every now and then, today for example, all my assignments change on keyboard, throttle, joystick. I then have to go into settings and re-create all my previous set assignments. Anyone know why this happens and is there a fix to prevent this from happening again? CRJ_simpilot
Sounds like an add-on or something doing it. Perhaps FSUIPC? OOM errors? Read this. What the squawk? An awesome weather website with oodles of Info. and options. Wile E. Coyote would be impressed.
il88pp
It could be something more basic. When you: fully close fsx, delete the fsx.cfg file, and then start fsx, the fsx.cfg file gets rebuilt. But, also the file 'standard.xml' gets rebuilt. Rebuilding that file means all assignments go back to default. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
llivaudais
There's really no excuse for not keeping backups of important files such as: C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\FSX.CFG C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\Cameras.cfg C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\dll.xml C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\exe.xml C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\Controls\Standard.xml..... your keybindings. and the Scenery.cfg (wherever you find it) C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\scenery.cfg or C:\Users\All Users\Microsoft\FSX\Scenery.cfg and/or C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX\Scenery.cfg (which is a pointer to the actual copy in user's folder) Asking "Why?" doesn't fix anything (stuff just happens). Having a good, CURRENT backup just gets it fixed real quick (No answers needed). Ray Hff
It might simply be particular aircraft. Some aircraft designers make changes to keys. If you find a key changes after loading a particular aircraft, open it's aircraft.cfg file and search for "HotKeySelect". If you add "//" to the beginning of the line, FSX will ignore that line and that change.
dogdish
Sounds like an add-on or something doing it. Perhaps FSUIPC? Speaking of FSUIPC (4)... The paid version has it's own controller setup, much better then the default FSX setup. Can use custom profiles for different aircraft, helicopters, etc. that automatically switch when a particular aircraft is selected. Sometimes I find the default FSX joystick will tick back on, but it's a simple matter to switch it back off.
