nrios
When I adjust the views upwards or downwards to get more details about a zoomed in item like an instrument in the cockpit panel, I use the PgUp and PgDn keys on the numeric keypad. The travel on screen though is pretty large. Is there a way to adjust the amount of travel so that pressing either PgUp or PgDn key will move the view only half as much or a third as much only? Thanks.
llivaudais
I haven't used a default cameras.cfg since FSX came out but I suspect it is going to be the pan angle parameters. [CameraDefinition.002] Title = Virtual Cockpit Guid = {C95EAB58-9E4A-4E2A-A34C-D8D9D948F078} Description = This is the description of the virtual cockpit view. Origin = Virtual Cockpit MomentumEffect = Yes SnapPbhAdjust = Swivel SnapPbhReturn = False PanPbhAdjust = Swivel PanPbhReturn = False Track = None ShowAxis = YES AllowZoom = TRUE InitialZoom = 0.7 SmoothZoomTime = 2.0 ZoomPanScalar = 1.0 ShowWeather = Yes XyzAdjust = TRUE ShowLensFlare=FALSE Category = Cockpit PitchPanRate=30 HeadingPanRate=75 PanAcceleratorTime=0 HotKeySelect=1 Find the Cameras.cfg in the appdata folder with FSX.cfg and make a backup copy before messing with it. It can be opened and edited with notepad. Find the second definition - it should look like the one above; make sure it says "virtual cockpit"; find the two "Pan Rate" parameters and edit them. First try a value about half as large and see how that works. Now, since it is a camera defined in the Cameras.cfg you will have to shut down FSX in order to edit this file. On the other hand, if you have an instrument view in one of your planes' aircraft.cfg, THAT one can be edited, saved and the aircraft reloaded WITHOUT shutting down the sim. I find the default config files an utter MESS and just can't stop myself from cleaning them up so I can find things from here on out... I've posted a copy of my heavily modified cameras.cfg on my OneDrive and anyone who would like to try one that's easier to fly with is welcome to play around with it. Link HERE. Mine is geared around using the joystick tophat to view things so I don't know what the pgup/pgdn is about; my vc section looks like this: [CameraDefinition.002] Title = Virtual Cockpit Guid = {C95EAB58-9E4A-4E2A-A34C-D8D9D948F078} Description = This is the description of the virtual cockpit view. Origin = Virtual Cockpit Track = None Category = Cockpit SnapPbhAdjust = Ordinal SnapPbhReturn = True PanPbhAdjust = Swivel PanPbhReturn = False PitchPanRate=15 HeadingPanRate=45 PanAcceleratorTime=0 AllowZoom = TRUE InitialZoom = 0.9 SmoothZoomTime = 0 ZoomPanScalar = 1.0 XyzAdjust = TRUE XyzRate = 0.5 // 0.25m/sec default rate xyzAccelleratorTime = 0 ShowWeather = Yes ShowLensFlare=FALSE ShowAxis = YES Transition = No CycleHidden=No MomentumEffect = No HotKeySelect=2 oh, and my 2d/vc hotley assignments are reversed from the original - they can be swapped back to put the VC on F9 again. It also includes a "fixed Camera" like was last seen in FS9 and earlier. llivaudais
Thanks. I had forgotten that fine adjust function, I use it so rarely.
