Not a specialist of navy air force -- especially landing on carriers :) -- but I have tools on my drive which allows the following views. Some fresh air!

Thanks NMLW and mikeandpatty for the comments. I really think that package I found by chance is a fine one for people wanting to fly U.S. Navy :)

'USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER' I know it is, in real life, that ship, with its 69 mark. I'm using that fine freeware indeed like a generic CVN :) That package also holds the Nimitz carrier

Actually it's fun to sim flying fixed wing planes off and on carriers. I flew on and off them a lot RW with choppers decades ago, but that's another whole ball of wax.

If you want to give it a try while simming I, suggest you contact PhantomTweak on the FSX forum. He will overpower you with advice and counsel. And most of it is very good advice! ;)

Michael

Being an old chopper guy I usually fly low and slow.

Rupert: thanks for the tips but i dont really want to turn specialist to carrier landing! :pilot: My post was mainly to showcase those fine possibilities within FSX with that small freeware utility called AIcarriers2.zip and some ships addons. The Nimitz or the Eisenhower also come with a resupplying ship which provides realistic pics. I likely will post more. And, generally, in line with my civilian ships freeware, I have noticed that FSX -and even the FS generally- are a open world too to sea landscapes

Ian: as far as a submarine is concerned, you will watch not to be taken for the one which comes with a strike group, or you should be impressed into a naval military carrier :):) Cheers. What about that Frisian fellow citizen to you who was to bring that Chablis in Schiphol?

Thanks for the confidence, Michael! Whether it's warranted or not is another matter... :p

As to "that small freeware utility you mentioned, Gerard,

...that small freeware utility called AIcarriers2.zip and some ships addons.

All I can say is that I hope you're using Orion Lau's AICarriers.NET, not the old Java based version. Much better, IMO. Exact same functionality, but it uses less computer resources. It's also, from what I've read here and there, the only one that works properly with the various P3D versions out there.

I won't get into vLSO, Pitching Deck, the FSDT F/A-18C, or any other addon to make carrier ops even more fun.

Still, a couple great pictures! Thanks for the post.

Had a thought...then there was the smell of something burning, and sparks, and then a big fire, and then the lights went out! I guess I better not do that again!

"I hope you're using Orion Lau's AICarriers.NET, not the old Java based version. Much better, IMO." Thanks Phantomtweak! I will give that a check because I signal the AIcarriers2 on my site. As far as that version only is concerned, it indeed needs you have the latest Java update installed on your computer. Cheers!

Hi!

About AICarriers.NET, i have checked and indeed I had already quoted it on my site, and saying i did not try it at the time. Your post led me to do today -- despite we are on Sunday :):) -- and that seems working. I will report that on my site (and one can transfer one's personalized files from the one to the other version)

carad1.jpg

that same CVN working in that version

carad2.jpg

of interest also, generally, with that freeware is that one can use terrestrial vehicles, and all the sea vehicles within FSX 'Boats' folder

All the vehicles inserted into FSX with AICarrier are moving with control of direction. Interesting
