Retrovanian
Hi, Because there is no switch to turn off all the instruments to get a cold dark cockpit I have tried to assign a Key (Q) using the Controls Menu. That did not work. I Have also tried to add the King Air Avionics switch to the Panel and it appears on the panel but when clicked on nothing happens. How can I turn of the instruments to get a cold dark cockpit. In FS 2004 this was an easy thing to do by adding a switch to any panel. What am I doing wrong ??? I have spent all afternoon trying to get this to work. Kind regards James.

mrzippy
My best recommendation for setting up a cold and dark "default flight" (I hope this is what you are trying to do!) is to use something like the default Baron 58 (this has all of the necessary switches). 1. Choose the aircraft (default Baron 58) 2. Choose an airport parking position, Ramp, gate, etc avoid using the runway. 3. Start the flight. Power down the engines, electrical, set the throttles to idle, prop RPM to max, Mixture to full rich. Set the parking brake and TURN ON THE AVIONICS SWITCH! 4. Hit ; and label this as "default cold and dark" I recommend that you never use the default flight for flying. Use it just for having all aircraft starting in a cold and dark state. All aircraft will now be in the "cold and dark" state when starting a flight. Turn on the battery and all avionics will be on. This is all I did to use the C-172 avionics switch on my 737. Retrovanian
Thanks Battery is of and main screens go dark but in this boeing737ng.zip Widescreen Panel the Upper Panel still has everything switched on and warning lights still flashing. Presumable Payware stuff will have all switches working. I am using the default Model darrenvox. Kind regards James.
Retrovanian
Just tried the default 747 and although you can shut the engines down if you go to an outside view the engine on noise comes back and even seems to rev up and down. I am using the B747-400v3.zip and B747-400v3.1.zip. There seems to be no working battery switch at all. This program is driving me mad. I hope Flight Sim World is better. Kind regards James. The noise you are hearing in the outside view is the engine(s) trying to restart if you have only shut off the fuel switches. Battery switch should be on the upper VC panel. Not on the 2D panels. Retrovanian
Have found and turned of the Battery in the 747. The Cockpit is silent and dark. If I go to an outside view it just sounds the same with everything started then going back to the Cockpit the full sounds are there again but the efis panel is showing that the engines are off and they do not respond to the Throttles. Using a British Airways paint on this Model.

il88pp
There is theoption of assigning an avionics switch keyboard key in: settings--control assignments. Then, have a look at this thread. it adds a lot of useful switches to the default b747-400 VC. It also adds/fixes some important non-working ones on it's autopilot. For example the AP-master switch, and the backcourse button. https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?291525-How-do-I-get-all-buttons-to-work-in-the-boeing-747 It is about the VC. Not the 2D panel. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Retrovanian
Thanks for your reply. The answer is yes mrzippy. The 747 is aliased to the 737 sounds and this happens the same in the 737 with everything off but if I look at the map and return everything is silent again in the 737. Puzzled. Dornier I just put the battery back on which shows the efis panel again. Thanks for the link iI88pp. Kind regards James.

I have found way better sound packages for the 737 and 747. I just tried my default 747 at KSFO. Cockpit is cold and dark and checking the outside view, all is quiet except for freeway traffic and airport vehicles. This may be the sound package I'm using. 747altsnd.zip Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!
il88pp
sometimes the sound runs away on these planes. What can help shut them up is pressing Q twice. Q = Sound (on/off) Using an addon sound package may help. But some have the same thing. Addon sounds usually say: sound package xxx instr: backup original sound folder, and install this sound folder instead. ------ My method for these is slightly different. If tthe sound pack is called xxx I unzip it's folder. then rename the addon's /sound folder to /sound.xxx then install that folder in the plane's folder. While leaving the old one in as well. then I edit the aircraft.cfg file sections at the top, and change every line that says: sound= to sound=xxx That makes the plane use folder /sound.xxx The edit needs to be done for each texture's section in that aircraft.cfg file. (so for [Fltsim.01], [Fltsim.02], etc.) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

il88pp
I prefer my method. That way I can later retrace what addon sound I'm using. If you just leave the new sound as /sound, it may be hard to remember later where it came from. It also makes it possible to use one sound in one texture, and another in another texture. And if you want to use the old folder later, all you need to do is rename in the aircraft.cfg. No renaming/swapping of folders rquired. Notepad has a "find and replace" option. tell it to find: sound= and replace with: sound=xxx and you're done. (works the same with addon panels.)
