The DC-6s are a pleasure to fly.

While airliners they do low and slow well too.

And I second anything from Manfred Jahn and crew.

I didn't:)

Sorry, Paul! Even though your input time was way before I did mine, your post did not show, even though it shows now. I've noticed this is happening with a few others out there. Just wondering if the mods are monitoring some folks before letting their posts go through?

Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!  ✈️

You didn't say which sim but assuming FSX/P3D there's the Soloy turbine 206, even has provisions for the GTN 750/650, download site here:

http://www.flightport.de/cessna-u-206-soloy/

The preview thread is here (lotsa pics):

...and he's working on the Mark 2 here:

Also the Fravin C-150:

IIRC there's also a 150 hp "Texas taildragger" variant available although I don't see it on the download page. Google would probably find it. Both planes are very well done, beyond freeware really.

There are a lot of good Freeware airplanes out there, with very good flying qualities and nice features... however, some of them do not have a VC.

But, they shouldn't be discounted or merely tossed aside for that reason.

That is the FS9 version.

The FSX native version (including float and taildragger version) is here- http://frenchvfr.free.fr/download.php?lng=en&tconfig=0

Any of Paul Craig's planes are excellent, although if you want panels you'll have to hunt one up or build your own. Another developer you can trust is Milton Shupe. Generally, his models are superb, and he has done everything from the Puss moth to the P-47. I fly nothing but freeware in FS9 and find Shupe's and Craig's stuff among the very best there is!

Thank you for your kind comment, I didn't want to mention my own work but here's a list of my models:

PA-32RT-300 Piper Lance II, PA-34-220T Piper Seneca III, Piper Meridian PA-46-500TP, PA-42 Piper Cheyenne 400LS & Beechcraft Duke B60 (Piston & Turbine).

All of the above are both FS9 & FSX compatible except for the Cheyenne which is FSX only & as mentioned before I have not modelled any VC's into the models & they use default panels. To find any of my models, do a search in the library here for my name (Paul Craig) then the aircraft name eg:"Paul Craig Beechcraft Duke B60".

I am currently working on a Learjet 35A for FSX.

The Buecker Jungmeister is a very nice plane. With VC. Biplane (double decker).

bu133jungmeister-fsx.zip

In the Flightsim.com File Library.

I'm just not happy with the flag it has on the tail. (and only one texture, so little choice.)

But, it's very easy to create a new paint job for it by editing this paint job and painting the flag all red so it doesn't carry the logo any more.

I did just that to it on my pc.

Flies very nice. Not fast, and you need to keep a close eye on the heading as it tends to veer off the straight line.

However, I added the autopilot section of the beech baron 58 to the aircraft.cfg file of the Jungmeister, and now I can also use the autopilot in the radio panel.

To use that properly I also had to add a working HSI gauge. I simply added the HSI from the Beech Baron 58.

All you need to do for that is to add at the bottom of the [Window00] section:

gauge12=Beech_Baron!Horizontal Situation Indicator, 470, 592

and at the bottom of the [VCockpit01] section you add:

gauge12=Beech_Baron!Horizontal Situation Indicator, 300, 64, 110, 55

Nothing else required.

For those not paying attention.... That means it is possible to add Gauges to this VC!!!! That doesn't happen often.

Enjoy!

il.

I am downloading the Jungmeister at this point, and I have few German planes that I had to redo cuz I will NOT have that ugly symbol on my virtual planes. Also, I regularly add AP gauges to plane that normally would not have them so I can hand fly the plane or pop up the AP, set, and just CRUISE. thank everyone again for helping come up with this list that can also halp other "Non-airliner" pilots. Still trying to get that French 150. It looks so cool!

They chose to set the page up that way so people cannot hot link to the download.

The answer is fairly obvious...

You will be asked for that info after you click on the download button and accept the terms.

FWIW, I am a fan of the Pilatus PC-7 / PC-9 series, these are single-wide turboprop trainers that not only fly quick but have great visibility. My favorite variation of these is the Embraer EMB-312 Tucano with a 2D instrument panel (wide version for my widescreen small-tv/monitor)

Another favorite is the Lancair Legacy Emerald.

Have fun
