Multi player option still available? Simply want to view brothers panel as he flys

Several states apart, was hoping the multiplayer function would allow me to view his instrument panel like I was sitting in the plane with him, want to see if I can give him some help on instrument flying. A great tool for both of us if I can make it work. I havent attempted to ever use multiplayer, read it is discontinued or not supported anymore.

Thanks

AFAIK Multiplayer works just fine. But you cannot view another aircraft's panel in FS2004. FSX multiplayer has such a mode, as I remember, but AFAIK it requires planes that are designed for that.

Could have swore like built-in weather Microsoft got rid of it.

Thanks guys, have the box vers of X, bought it the day it came out years ago and uninstalled it the next day went back to FS2004. First I have opened it in 10 years, installing it now, never liked it because of the headbobbing virtual panel, I am a 2D panel pilot, in real life my panel does not bob up and down, it stays in the same place. I couldnt even find the option for a 2D panel in the stock baron, which is what i prefer to use practicing GA approaches. Is there a way to force load and stay in 2D mode? Or at least get rid of the stupid head bobbing up and down, wth were they thinking?

Thanks

Are you now talking about FSX? If so:

To eliminate head movement:

From the starting page, click on Settings on the left.

Then click on the Realism button on the right.

Uncheck G-Effects

Click OK.

To load the plane with the 2D panel:

Click Customize button at the bottom. (Settings/Display)

Click the Aircraft Tab.

Click the 2D Instrument Panel radio button.

Click OK.

To eliminate the music playing at startup, etc.:

Click the Sound button in the upper right.

Uncheck Play User Interface Music

Click OK.

Hope this helps,

Tom Gibson

To change views in FSX, hit the A key. That should toggle between 2D and the virtual cockpit as well as other views in any default aircraft. Regarding cockpit sharing in FSX, it works great in multiplayer. For the box version, go to http://www.fsopen.co.uk/info/sessions/ for multiplayer servers. Another option is https://pmem.uk/joinfs/ JoinFS is continuously being updated and worked on. The advantage to JoinFS is that you and the other player can fly in free flight and set the weather and time of day to anything you wish and still be able to fly together and share cockpits. Unfortunately JoinFS does not support FS9.
