  1. I meant to add, I'm using a PC and weather radar seems to work as well on the B787 as it does on the B747..I wonder, what other MSFS planes have the same capability?.... Lee Graves
  2. My thanks to CAVULIFE and KINGNORRIS. You both found the reason I was not getting a radar weather return. The aircraft has to be flying in either rain or a storm, before it provides a WXR return on the main panel. With one of those active, I'm seeing a continuous WXR return,,,A great job by you both... 3. I re-started a B747 flight from KPIT-KLGA and while sitting on the KPIT threshold with broken clouds in front of me, clicked-on ND Range (20 miles), TERR, and WXR (as the video did). Again, 20-mile range arcs and our location showing in magenta appeared, but no WX. After clicking-on just WXR (no TERR), nothing changed on the screen... So, I tried clicking-on just ND Range (20 miles) and WXR. Still, no change in the screen...I do not know why I am not getting a WX picture (like CAVULIFE), when seemingly doing exactly what he did...Anybody see a reason?... 4. I just completed a B747 flight (on my PC), clicked-on keys ND Range, TERR, and WXR (as per the video) and got no WX radar (as the video got). Many tries later, still no WX radar. Am I not following the video's directions? Should I be doing something else?...Any suggestions?... 5. Based on this thread's non-response, I'm wondering if ANYONE on the Forum has seen a MSFS working weather radar, on any plane? I found this question and answer on Google: Is there a weather radar layer in MSFS 2020? And, this answer (without a source): "It has been well discussed in the MSFS forums that Asobo has not yet made a weather radar layer live. It is on their workflow, I understand..." Makes me wonder how the tutorial video I found was made--it showed a working WX radar (link below). 6. Can someone help me get weather radar to work on the B787 and B747? A tutorial video I found said, click on Range, Terr, and WXR main panel buttons. That worked on the video, but not when I tried it. Can someone tell me how they get weather radar to come up on the nav data screen in those 2 airliners?...Thanks very much for all help... 10. Just a P.S. to my last post. I should have explained that the key that gave me so much enjoyment was an Iambic model, with paddles, as opposed to the traditional "single key"... Lee Graves
  11. Great to see this thread on the Forum...Three things I always wished I could do when I was growing up: Be a pilot, a ham radio operator, and fly a B-17. Luckily, I eventually earned a pilot's license and ham licenses, but never flew a real Flying Fortress. However, with MSFS, a virtual trip remains a real possibility... What got my attention about this thread is the relationship I believe exists between pilots and hams. I've always believed both are attracted by things like watching needles move about dials and spinning knobs on panels...Two of my favorite pastimes...From the responses here, I'm pleased to learn I may have some kindred spirits on the Forum... Years ago, I earned a Advance ham license, after quite a bit of earlier time spent on a (telegraphy) key. I eventually bought a Vibroplex and really enjoyed working other hams with it. I never sent very fast, but to hook up with another ham at the same moderate speed, using the Vibroplex, was like a "dance," back and forth, with your finger gently taping the paddle like "dancing to a rythm."...I wonder if anyone else has had a similar experience?... 12. Thanks for the suggestions...The one that seems to have stopped the porposing is using the FLC for climb outs. I didn't realize how useful that was... But, on a different and continuing problem, I'm still getting an occasional electrical failure (all gauges stop working), usually during an approach. The overhead Electrical panel shows all switches ON, but no power is reaching the cockpit gauges. And. the APU does not function...Has anyone else experienced this and know how to correct it?...All help much appreciated... Lee Graves
  13. I'm having a problem getting my planes to climb out smoothly upon departing an airport. I'm currently flying the B-787, but it also occurs with other aircraft. After take-off, I activate LNAV, with no problem. But, activating the auto pilot causes the plane to begin porposing up and down as it heads for the flight plan route on the screen...The flight needs the auto pilot on to promptly intercept and continue on the flight route...The porposing continues for awhile, but eventually seems to go away. It seems to be connected to turning the AP on. Turning off the AP seems to stop the up-and-down motion, but the plane take much longer to intercept the flight route on the screen... There are some former Forum posts on "porposing aircraft," but not much offered to stop it... Has anyone else had this problem, and does anyone know a way to stop it?...All suggestions and ideas greatly welcomed... 14. One of Captain Sullenberger's first acts, after the two-engine bird strike over the Hudson River. It restored the radio, instruments, and cabin lights... Lee Gtaves
  15. The APU, as I understand it, is normally turned off as soon as the engines are up and running. I believe confirming an off APU is part of most (if not all) "Before Take-off" check lists. I wasn't sure it would turn on in-flight (and re-charge the batteries)...As soon as I saw electrical power had been restored, I turned it off and everything continued operating normally...Imagine the relief of the crew if this were an actual in-flight occurrence..
