  1. hgschnell, Thanks for your reaction but the SBuilder "Help" tutorial only seems to highlight it's actual usage, how to begin making scenery, etc. but nowhere does it seem to say anything about editing an existing default scenery file at least, I could not find anything of that nature. I made a few (test-)polygons, just for fun and which actually worked but that was not (yet) what I was looking for. I've had a program called "LWM Viewer" for many years and via that I was able to open my default HL931270.BGL file and to see exactly the small piece of shoreline I wanted to delete but frustratingly enough, that program is not meant for directly editing default files but only for de-activating and re-activating them, to see what they do within the program itself. Another one of it's very handy functions is to display exactly which default files are active in the area where your (test) aircraft is parked. What I'm in fact looking for is a comparable function in SBuilder or in any other program, whereby such selective edits/deletes from default files can actually take place. Another option would be the possibility to create some kind of a mask for my problem shoreline and in such a way that the wave effect "engine" can no longer "see" it. Comments please. Regards Hans
  2. defaid, De-activating the complete default HL931270.bgl file (= shorelines) does in fact remove ALL the island's default shorlines AND their related wave effects but that then leaves an even more unrealistic looking land/water transition for the whole island. I've never done anything with the SBuilder program and therefore have absolutely no experience with it but is this the program via which it becomes possible to edit the default HL931270.bgl file ? E.g. to remove a small piece of default coastline ? SCM0616, Interesting answer but as far as I can remember the "Antilles2004" scenery actually messed up more than it improved, at least in my setup and that caused me not to keep it. However, if I can still find it I will certainly give it another go. Regards Hans
  3. Hi Guys, I've had the rather simple but beautifully made addon tropical JF Mitchell (TVSB) airfield in my collection for many years but have never actually gotten around to getting rid of the visible ocean wave effects right across this airfield. The airfield itself is situated on a stroke of re-claimed land (at 14 feet) running more or less parallel to the default coastline .... BUT ..... the original wave effects remain visible right across the re-claimed part, most probably because the original coastline(s) have not been deleted or suppressed in the default HL931270.bgl file. How can I get rid of only this stroke of default coastline, while leaving the new ones around the re-claimed land intact ? Any help or suggestions will be strongly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Sunken Aircraft

Hey Guys, I took another good look at my own addon UK Bristol (EGGD) airport but saw no elevation problems a.i. sunken aircraft or anything else of that nature. I have no separate mesh for the area, nor a flatten switch in my scenery.cfg file. The whole airport area looks technically correct but when slewing around outside it's perimeter I also noticed that it was situated on top of a very low plateau but without any distinct positive or negative embankments around it. Therefore, there is no single large area flatten file involved. My own addon Bristol scenery folder does however contain a flatten.bgl file and which came with the original download very long ago. However, when disassembling this SCASM based file I found that it flattens many small detailed airport areas, all at 622 feet. Therefore, no problems at my end but have you tried de-activating your own mesh and/or LC scenery yet, just to see what happens ? Good luck and regards, Hans P.S. What is the name of your downloaded EGGD file(s) and where did you download it/them from ?
  5. hgschnell, Now that I've found out how this FS9.cfg file actually works, I've even been able to add my yolk's 2D slew function to those of my keys again. Great !! I now believe that my initial spinning problem was caused by one or more of my hardware "joystick" assignments conflicting with their slew functions, most probably caused by one or more of those unexpected automatic "changes" long ago. Thanks again for your help. Hans
  6. hgschnell, Thanks a million for your lesson. Slewing around without spinning crosshairs now works fine again, although I will need to get used to the slew function now only working via my keyboard and no longer via my yolk .... and ..... my keyboard. In all my simming years I've never manually touched the FS9.cfg file but it now seems that some types of (bad) automatic edits have somehow creeped in at some times in the past. However, after having messed around with this file for so long and especially after your strongly valued help, I was now finally able to straighten my slew issue out. Not only that but I've now also gained valuable knowledge about how FS9 gets itself set up for action after startup. Thanks again. Hans
  7. hgschnell, Attached is my now active FS9.cfg file for you to please take a look at. It concernes three steering hardwares but I have renamed the "cfg" part to "txt" but only because cfg files are evidently not allowed as posting attachments. 1. Saitek (Logitech) Pro Flight Yolk System. Actively used for slewing. 2. Saitek (Logitech) throttle quadrant. Not usefull or necessary for slewing. 3. Saitek (Logitech) Rudder Peddals. Not usefull or necesary for slewing. 4. (Standard keyboard). Actively (also) used for slewing. The top "Joystick Main" in the attached FS9.txt listing is for my Rudder Peddals (3), which includes two toe brakes and the rudder. Works correctly for normal flight. The second "Joystick Main" is for my yolk (1), which also has a number of programmed buttons. Works correctly for normal flight and for slewing. Includes the related "Joystick Slew" section. The last "Joystick Main" is for my throttle quadrant, which also has a number of programmed buttons. Works correctly for normal flight. I have purposely deleted all slew entries for the above 2 and 3 but have experienced a number of times that the slew entries of 3, can suddenly re-appear without my input ????? In relation to this I have also deleted all rudder peddals related "slewing assignments". Anyway, I certainly hope you can find something in the attached FS9.txt file, which could be the potential cause of my problems. Regards and thanks for any trouble taken. Hans FS9.txt
  8. A general question, My Win7 is the 64 bit version while FS9 is 32 bit. No problem so far but when it concernes e.g. drivers for my three steering hardwares, which drivers should be downloaded/installed ? 64 bit or 32 bit versions ? Hans
  9. hgschnell, Your "LOCKED=1" in your FS9.cfg file sounded so good but the only thing such entries seem to do in my FS9.cfg, is to remove each whole SLEW section after a following re-start. However, even then, my weird slew functions remain operational, as though they get their bad settings from somewhere else. Do you have any idea where this could be or where FS9 gets it's default steering hardware settings from. Thanks for your best wishes and I seem to have survived the ordeal in one piece. Regards Hans

    Sunken Aircraft

A flatten switch containing the default airport's elevation (in feet) in the scenery.cfg file and which covers the whole airport area, has always been able to solve these kinds of problems for me and for many years. The only remaining step is to then synchronize the afcad (or ADE) file to the same elevation. Hans
  11. Hey Guys, I've been in a hospital during the last week, recovering from some complications resulting from an aorta valve replacement in my heart but will be going home again in a few days time. So, sorry for not being able to react quickly to any of your reactions. hgschnell, I will certainly try your method of de-activating my three steering hardwares during slew activities. Didn't even know or realize that this was at all possible, evan although I had already suspected one of these hardwares myself. However, I must add that my slew problems had quite unexpectedly turned up at some time in the past but how and why remains a mystery. Anyway, you're never to old to learn. Thanks from my hospital bed. Hans
  12. Hi All, I've been using an "aircraft" in the form of crosshairs for accurately positioning FS2004 scenery objects for years, mostly via the EZ object positioning program and of cause, also via the old faithful, RWY12 program. Being able to slew correctly via the "Y" key is thereby very important ...... BUT ...... directly after pressing this key, my crosshairs "aircraft" begins spinning to the right, faster and faster and which can then continue indefinately, even after having slewed upwards, sideways, turning, etc. It's not only my crosshairs with this problem but it's the same for ALL my flyable aircraft, even the "heavy" B-747s. A commical sight yes but ........ I've gone through my FS9.cfg file a number of times but cannot find anything which could be related to my problem, but even after replacing the whole file with my oldest backup (8 years old) the problem persists. Deleting this file and letting FS9 generate a new one does not cure my problem either. Slewing upwards does not go straight up but at an angle of about 5 degrees from vertical and after pressing the F1 key to bring the "aircraft" back down, it descends as expected but then disappears underground, only to re-appear correctly after pressing the "Y" key again but now with spark and dust effects as though it has made a rough landing. Because I now began suspecting the assignments/sensitivities of my Flight yolk, Throttel quandrant and Rudder peddals I went through those a number of times as well but to no avail. Does anyone recognise any of this and is able to at least point my nose in the right direction ? Thanks in advance for any comments. Hans
  13. Tom, Problem solved. Thanks for your help. Hans
  14. Thanks Tom for your reaction. I'll try placing the sound folder in my main sound folder tomorrow. Hans
  15. Tom Gibson, I found and downloaded your advised DC-4/6 v6 panel but because I've had some very bad eperiences with auto-installers I custom installed your panel into a non-FS9 "working folder", after which I copied/pasted the completed panel into my B-314 folder. However, when I now open the B-314 cockpit with the new panel I get an error message, which refers to one or more missing sound files. Included with your downloaded panel there is a separate sound folder but without any references to it in your panel.cfg file, where such reterences are usually situated. According to your "Readme" these sounds are linked to one or more gauges ...... BUT ...... in that very special case, where should this sound folder or the .WAV files themselves, be positioned ? I thank you in advance for any trouble taken. Regards Hans
  16. Well Guys, out of pure inquisitiveness I downloaded this "B-314 Island Queen", in fact only to see if my FS9 water was just as "sticky" or "massive" as mentioned in this thread. However, the plane immediately did everything it was expected to do from my water areas, even it's water rudder worked correctly but when going through it's aircraft.cfg file I found many errors, especially in it's contact point section. E.g. wheels were specified but this plane does not have a landing gear. One of it's textures is even specified as a PDF file. Never seen that before. Anyway, after quite some deletions, streamlining, corrections and tweaking in it's aircraft.cfg file (and panel), the plane at least performed a little better. I saw no issues with sticky or tough water. I'm now looking for a more realistic panel from that era and if found I will most probably tweak this very old (maybe ex FS98 ?) plane further (as defaid did) and keep it in my collection. Regards Hans
  17. My solution to your wind direction and/or general weather problem at your departure airport, is to save the flight with all the new weather settings. These weather settings will then also be saved so that upon re-opening that saved flight the saved weather/wind direction wil be re-activated as well, including ATC pointing you to the correct wind dependent runway. This can also be done for any destination airport but you will then need to slew to that airport first, to then change the wind direction/weather there and to then slew back to your departure airport/gate, followed by saving the flight as above. However, this procedure can NOT be done for both departure and destination airports and a choice will therefore need to tbe made. I hope this solves your problem. Regards Hans
  18. Any of you guys using the very well made but rather frame rate "heavy" addon KORD ? If not, then the "bug" I mentioned earlier in this thread, could not have had anything to do with the problem approaches. Anyway, I've now swatted the bug by editing my addon KORD afcad file and the only thing now left is to correct the four still visible but incorrect runway designators. A simple method would have been to create new afcad runways but alas, none of them want to show up in the scenery. Hans
  19. Hi Guys, I took a good look at the differences between the runways and their designation numbers at stock KORD and compared them with those at my addon KORD. There are six runways in total of which three have parallels. However, in the addon version of KORD, runway 27L should be 27R and runway 28 should be 27L, in fact as they are correctly specified in the stock version. There could be some more differences here and there but I havn't looked any further ..... yet. In my opinion, a bug in the addon KORD. I have edited my two runways in my own addon KORD, have then tested some ILS approaches and all went well. The automatic editing run for the FSNav program will be done tomorrow. Regards Hans

    Cessna 310

Hi all, My suspicions turned out to be correct about the "PrintScreen" key on my remote keyboard. I dug up one of my dusty old wired keyboards out of my cupboard and connected it to my dedicated FS desktop. The printscreen key worked immediately and I was directly able to "paste" the result in my standard Win7 Paint program. After a little size-editing and "copy/paste" experimentation, my resulting Cessna-310 can finally be seen below. At least I hope so. The "printscreen" key on my remote keyboard was one of those whereby another key must be pressed simultaneously, e.g. ALT, Enter, Windows logo key, etc. but none of these combinations worked. However, the "printscreen" key on my wired keyboard did not require such a simultaneous key press and worked immediately. You're never to old to learn and in this case I only needed to fully realize that my issue was not an FS issue but a keyboard/Windows7 one. Regards Hans

    Cessna 310

Hey Guys, My printscreen problem has suddenly become my latest (FS) obsession because nothing seems to work, neither does the downloaded "FSScreen program" or does anything else I read on the internet. This has now gone so far that I'm even beginning to suspect the "PrintScreen" key on my remote keyboard. Tomorrow, I will try my last option by connecting a wired keyboard. However, if that also fails ............... ?? Hans

    Cessna 310

Hi Guys, Thanks for your help and I will certainly now try to find the screen print pics. In the meantime I had a good look at my own Cessna-310L and even found the original manual, which was included in the "Dual" self installer software by Flight1. "Dual" in this case means that the self installer would automatically install into FS2002 or into FS2004, whichever it found in one's PC while both versions were evidently not compatable. This means that when any simmer migrated from FS2002 to FS2004, the self installer should have been run again after their migration. Anyway, JGF, my basic Cessna-310L is the FS2004 (FS9) "L" version by Flight1 Software and I received it as a birthday present more than 20 years ago. I have flown it in FS2002 and have finally re-installed it into my FS2004 as soon as that became available. It only has two textures, a-two-tone blue and a-two-tone green one. I hope this helps to answer your query. Regards Hans

    Cessna 310

JGF, Nice picture of which the model seems very different to my Cessna-310. However, in the meantime I've been tearing my hair out with trying to find out where my "Print Screen" key places the picture of my own Cessna-310, so that I can at least (try to) post it like you did. Can you please help me to point my nose in the right direction. I'm using Win7. Thanks in advance. Hans

    Cessna 310

I've had an (old freeware) Cessna-310 for many years and am still very happy with it. No idea though about who the original author was but as far as I'm concerned, he did a great job for me and for the whole FS9 community. I added two separately downloaded paints, sounds, a custom panel and have had no issues with those combinations whatsoever. In fact, my Cessna-310 (still) flies perfectly within it's own classifacation and can be navigated wonderfully. Moreover, I don't recall ever having installed any updates for it. "Showing it's age" ?? Where should I look to see it's possibly age related issues ?? Regards Hans

    Texan ii

D, On the Simviation site under their "Vintage" catagory, a North American T-6 Texan (Harvard) has been posted as a KLM flight lessons aircraft. May not be exactly what you are looking for but is in any case something in your direction. Regards Hans
