Anyone have any recommendations for global landclass? I know that there is MyWorld 2004 and the freeware GIS. Anyone have any suggestions for a solution for good coverage on a global scale?

Thank you all! I am trying to do it using real world weather, but I think I will have to settle with reducing the visibility via FSUIPC during overcast metars to simulate the effect.

Anyone know how to get overcast skies in fs2004? It always seems to be more like broken clouds for me, or doesn’t load properly in the air and goes from broken to something closer to overcast when I’m on the ground. Thanks!

Does anyone know if Active Sky Evolution still works in FS2004 or is still using it? Are the weather servers still running?

For the visual aspect, I use the following: Active Sky Evolution HDE clouds Envtex Sky+Sun+Water GE Pro ground textures AIFP/AIG AI Flight Plans But am also interested in learning what others use.

Interesting, was this the Orbx landclass or just the textures?

I saw something about how people were able to convert Orbx global textures to work in FS2004. My question is, would it be possible to also use Orbx or FSX landclass in fs2004? I know that the textures landclass calls for would depend on the sim, but would it work if the textures can be converted for fs2004? Thanks!

What’s the reason to not run as admin? I’ve always run as admin ever since I can remember. I always heard that if you don’t, certain addons won’t work properly. Same thing with running installers as admin. I just always thought it was best practice.

It runs without compatibility mode, I haven’t tried without running as admin. And yeah, I know. It’s an older laptop and I think the build quality isn’t that great. Definitely not holding up as well as my even older Alienware Windows 7 laptop that I was using before. Not sure there’s too much that I can do, although it could be that I messed up something when I ran throttlestop. I played around with the turbo multiplier, maybe it’s set too high.

Sure, not at the computer now but off the top of my head: I7 4910 MQ (2.9 GHz to 3.9 GHz) GTX 860M 16 GB ram Windows 10 64bit I had this laptop for a while, but never thought to put flight simulator on it. Big improvement in specs from my Windows 7 computer, still not good enough for P3d/xplane/FS2020 though (been using fs2020 on Xbox and loving it). Although I am a bit worried about doing a long haul on this laptop, as the CPU temps are hitting 100 degrees in my initial tests.

Yikes, I copied the instructions exactly to get FS9 up and running on my Windows 10 PC from my Windows 7 one. Hopefully that was the right thing to do. Seemed so simple to copy/paste the install from one computer to the next.

Thanks! What’s the issue with running as admin? I’ve been running fs2004 (and pretty much everything else) as admin all this time.

Any opinions on which compatibility mode to run? Does it affect performance? I recently copied my fs9 to a Windows 10 system and noticed that many of the aircraft (Ifly 737, pmdg 747) don’t have any screens on the PFDs, just all black. I wasn’t running in compatibility mode, was this the solution? Or perhaps I should reinstall those aircraft?

Ah I see. Ive been using the Vatsim online weather option within ASE, will that still work?

Will ASE eventually die? That’s what I use and really like it. Any way to get 6.5?

You installed directly to the C drive? I have mine in the FS9 folder in the C drive. Do you know what files need to be added? Maybe this is the issue. Although I feel like there’s no reason I wouldn’t have them, as I’m not copying/pasting but using the installer. Also, as an update, I thought I had it working by putting the scenery at the highest priority. That worked for a couple of weeks. But this weekend when I tested the buildings were gone again. I believe it may be related to the scenery.cfg entry, but not sure how to fix. Let me explain: Initially, when I installed the scenery, there was no automatic entry in the scenery library. The installer is supposed to add it to the scenery library automatically. So I had to manually add it. But then, a day later, when I looked at the scenery library, the automatic “FSdreamteam KORD” entry was there. So I had two entries, the one I manually added and the one that the installer added. Then, this weekend, when I went to check the scenery out again, the buildings were gone. I looked at the scenery library and the automatic entry from the installer was gone. Just my entry was there. No matter how many times I reinstall, the installer won’t put the entry in the library. But I think this is the solution. Somehow I need to get the installer to do as it’s supposed to and put the entry in the library. And I need to figure out how to not get it to disappear. I can’t get any fsdreamteam scenery installers to put the entry automatically as they’re supposed to. All I manually add. All have buildings that disappear after a certain period of time. But KORD is the one with the shortest period, sometimes days, sometimes minutes after installing the buildings disappear. Right now, to use FSDT sceneries, I have to reinstall before each flight and load up the sim without exiting to use them. If I exit, the buildings may be gone again.

Thanks. I applied the registry fix earlier, although not sure if it made too much of a difference. Other than the CTD and frame fluctuations I like the product. I had issues with the bank angle on the autopilot but I think I figured it out. The plane would miss waypoints because it wouldn’t turn sharp enough. I turned off the bank limits and think that solved it though. Or maybe it’s just my inexperience with Airbus

It’s not in program files, but I know that causes issues as you said. I managed to get it to not CTD, but I have to load in the Cessna and switch to the airbus. Also, it still CTD on exit. Also I’ve noticed wild frame fluctuations, especially in the VC, and major stuttering. Ran the DXT fixer but didn’t find any issue textures so not sure. Anyone else experience this?

So I purchased the Wilco today. Just my luck, I was getting an instant CTD when clicking fly now. I managed to temporarily resolve the issue by downloading a registry fix for the Wilco, but I still have the problem maybe 25% of the time. And it also crashes when I exit. Still trying to fix the issue...
