  1. FS2004/FSX/P3D LORAN Gauge

FS2004/FSX/P3D LORAN (LOng RAnge Navigation) gauge.  Long before GPS, a method was developed to be able to navigate on long overwater flights without the issues of weather and visibility involved with celestial navigation.  LORAN was originally used during WWII to assist the Allies in bombing raids and in transport duties.  It was later used by the airlines to navigate across the oceans.  This gauge from CalClassic simulates the operation of the AN/APN-4 instrument of WWII vintage, complete with peak alignment and reading the time delay values from the oscilloscope screen.  It uses the station pairs included on the coverage map from 1954, but can be used in any era from WWII to around 1975.  Installation instructions include adding the gauge to the JBK DC-6, CalClassic DC-6 and DC-7, and the Manfred Jahn L-749 Constellation, L-1049G Super Constellation, and the L-1649A Starliner 4.0.  Instructions are also included to add the gauge to any other panel.  By Jorge Rechani and Tom Gibson.  Thanks to loran-history.info for providing the LORAN coverage map.

  2. FS2004/FSX Scenery--1962 London Airport (Heathrow)

FS2004/FSX Scenery--1962 London Airport (Heathrow) UK. This scenery depicts London Airport as it was in the summer of 1962, after all international traffic had moved from the North Terminal to the Oceanic Terminal (later called Terminal #3). London Airport was not officially renamed Heathrow until 1966, but was called that at least informally throughout its existence. Having started in the 1930's as a small grass airfield near the hamlet of Heathrow and used by Fairey Aviation, it was then officially named The London Airport at the start of passenger operations in 1946. Includes accurate renditions of the terminals, hangars, offices, buses, GCA trucks, and statue. Requires the FS2004 Classic Scenery Libraries 1 and Classic Scenery Libraries 2.  By Chris Helton, Ken Lawson, Bill Douglas, and Tom Gibson.

  7. FS2004 1962 Pittsburgh Airport Scenery

FS2004 1962 Pittsburgh Airport Scenery This package will backdate the default Pittsburgh Intl. airport (KPIT) to circa 1962, using the old terminal built by Nick Botamer. Tom Gibson modified Nick's 1975 terminal to its 1962 appearance and added a few hangars and military buildings. Mike Stevens created the ADE file, ground polygons, and all the rest of the details. Thanks to Christian Page for releasing the 1975 KPIT scenery and thus making Nick's terminal available. The new airport, christened as Greater Pittsburgh Airport opened on 31 May 1952. The first flight was on 3 June 1952. In its first full year of operation in 1953, more than 1.4 million passengers used the terminal. "Greater Pitt" was then considered modern and spacious. The airport terminal was the largest in the United States, second only to Idlewild Airport's (now JFK Airport) in New York when it was completed five years later. 14. FS2004 American Air Lines Convair CV-240 CA-18

FS2004 American Air Lines Convair CV-240 CA-18. Part of the CalClassic Archive Project. The post war CV-110 unpressurised thirty seat DC-3 'replacement' was poorly timed, but AAL invited Convair to develop it into a pressurized 2 engine 40 seat CV-240 creating the first pressurized twin engined airliner. The CV-240 made its debut with American Air Lines in June 1948, but only 171 of the 556 CV-240s built were for airline use, the remainder were varieties of T-29 flying classroom and 26 x C-131A Samaritan air ambulances for the USAF and USCG. By the end of 1952 the CV-240 was giving way to the much stronger, heavier, and larger winged CV-340. This version has flight dynamics for the Pratt & Whitney R-2800 CA-18 engine. Includes model, panel, and sounds. This is the FS2004 CV-240 CA-18 Base Pack, add other liveries to this package (not VBF liveries).  Also provides panel, sounds, and updated flight dynamics for the VBF CV-240s. 15. FS2004 Continental Convair CV-440

FS2004 Continental Convair CV-440. Part of the CalClassic Archive Project. Belatedly intended to compete with the Vickers Viscount, the CV-440 Metropolitan made its airline debut with Continental in March 1956. With a significant maximum weight increase this allowed the CV-440 to make full use of 145 Octane AVGAS in R-2800 engines configured as CB-17s. Weather radar in an extended nose became optional. The earlier, less than fully successful and noisy twin exhaust thrust augmentation system gave way to a much quieter single wide exhaust. Of the 199 built just over 150 went to airlines. Military and naval designations were C-131D/E/F and R4Y-2. One hundred civilian and military CV-340s were then upgraded to a similar standard. This is the FS2004 CV-440 Base Pack, add other liveries to this package.  Requires the FS2004 CV-340 Base Pack for panel and sounds. By Greg Pepper, Tom Gibson, Wayne Tudor, and FSAviator

  19. FS2004/FSX Pacific Air Lines Martin 202A

FS2004/FSX Pacific Air Lines Martin 202A. The Martin 2-0-2A in Pacific Air Lines colors, circa 1959-1964. Part of the CalClassic Archive Project. Rushed into production after WW2 the unpressurized 2-0-2 delivered from 1947 had fatal structural faults and the thirty that did not fall apart in the air had to be remanufactured as 2-0-2As from 1949. Just twelve more were built from scratch to that higher standard in 1950. The original owners were Northwest Orient. LAN-Chile, Linea Aeropostal Venezolana and TWA. Despite the fatal design flaws of the original 2-0-2 some of the modified aircraft, always subject to severe operating restrictions, had long working lives.
