Though I have to say, my sim is beautiful after resetting my computer.

Yes, I think it's only available in Marketplace.

All the WT packages have been updated for SU5 compatibility now, so hopefully that's cured any CTD issues - I haven't had any, for what that's worth lol.

Where do you guys get yours? I'd like to give them a whirl.

Hope you sort it Johnny. I did a format & full installation 4 or 5 months ago. A big job, but flight sim ran extremely well after it.. for a while anyway LOL

 

I used to do it on a regular basis... the slightest error or problem.. format! Not so much nowadays though (don’t have the time)

Thanks Steve. I'm downloading the sim now. That Virtual Memory thing must be a windows 10 bug so beware of it. I'm glad Its sorted now, and my machine seems to be running better than ever since the reset, so we'll see what happens tonight doing my first post reset flight. :) Hope it all works out well. I'll keep everyone posted.

Well Finally had to reset my PC, and I am hoping that I will have a better experience with Flight Simulator after doing so. A mishap occurred after I changed my Virtual Memory settings and tried to reset them back to default which VM would not reset to the default, so I am forced now to go this route.

I personally believe its a good idea to do every now and again because I do believe accumulitive updates can cause a problem with corruption after a while.

I'll keep you all posted with my findings, but if you're having issues - maybe a reset may be needed....could help in the long run.

Just what I was thinking! LOL

I use SkyVector for the winds at the takeoff and landing airports. I then select the corresponding runway from those airports and it works pretty well.

For my local airport (Leeds/Bradford) I sometimes tune in to the ATIS (air traffic info service) which will say the runway in use.

The ATC in Flight Sim has always been correct so far, in that it gives me the same runway as being used in real life (mind you..the choice is only 14 or 32 :) )

Wind is often the deciding factor. You land and take off into wind.

So you need to know the wind direction for the airfield.

I use Little Nav Map for flight planning, so it gives you the current wind at DEP/ARR airports. Not 100% match to what is in MSFS, but usually pretty close.

Take off and landing runways? I want to be accurate doing flights, and want to match up with what the airports are using in the sim for landing and taking off with the live traffic.

ASOBO has been under a lot of heat lately but it occurred to me that almost all of this could have been avoided if some one had reigned in the marketing department and insisted on a little honesty.

 

The easiest thing to do would have been to wait a year and release on both platforms at the same time. This way PC users would not have a frame of reference to claim/see degraded visuals that came with SU5/xbox.

 

Don't post preview vids made from a in house build that is obviously superior to what the end user will/would get.

 

Openly state that the sim is a ten year project and at the moment is best suited for VFR GA flight but will be developed into a fully functioning sim for IFR and complex aircraft.

 

I can only speak for myself but knowing this would not have prevented me from buying the sim. I think most would feel the same and be happily looking to the future. Instead we have....well you know what we have.

You wasted your time falling on the many deaf ears of fans of this sim in these forums, and this type of complaint post is best suited over there where. THEY will read it. Post it here all you want but the developer Asobo doesn’t come here and won’t see it.

Maybe I misunderstood the OP’s comment. My responses weren’t meant for Asobo nor was I the one trying to make a point to them.

Last comment from me on this…if Asobo were simply being pressured and controlled by the totalitarian “marketing department” then why even bother with a beta?

 

Who cares if you meet the quality bar? You have to get that software out or else the “marketing department” will be mad!!

 

Do we know if they actually slipped release last summer? We don’t. They may have had an initial release for June (for example) and ended up releasing in Aug. Or the opposite could have happened, they may have hit the quality bar early and been ready in Aug, with an original target of the “holiday season” around October or November.

I did the update. I got the hotfix 07/30/21. I'm delighted. I booted up today and flew a few flights. Everything seems cool. No CTDs. What update are we talking about here?

The hotfix to the hotfix. I still haven't downloaded anything new when it says "Checking For Updates"
