StubbornSwiss replied to bucksnort's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 General Discussion
For me this is the biggest bug, as work always seems to get in the way of me enjoying the sim even more.... :D :D- 66 replies

MSFS 2020 Is Beautiful Junk
StubbornSwiss replied to bucksnort's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 General Discussion
I too have the Deluxe Premium purchased at MS store, and I too have had no issues, except the known bugs. In my case, I fly the A320NX (FBW) primarily, and only fly GA planes if I want to check out some scenery/location. It is really strange that some of us have next to no issues, while so many out there are experiencing these problems. Hopefully it will all be sorted soon.- 66 replies

Hi Paul: How large is your hard drive? I am assuming it is an SSD. Hopefully it is at least 1TB. As Tim has said, when you get the computer up and running, do all the windows updates first. Also, as he said, I also suggest installing to the default location, which would be the C drive, where your operating system also resides. Read and re-read everything Plainsman said. I am a bit worried about you 4G internet connection and speed. Maybe others can comment regarding this. I do wish you the best, and welcome back to the world of simming!

On a couple of flights, I have used the ATC window to try and request a different runway/approach for landing, after I have received inbound clearance and landing runway. Each time, I have been met with total silence from ATC. Has anyone else experienced this? Am I doing something wrong? Is there a work around? Thanks.

So... not everything has been smooth sailing with this sim, but I think slowly I am am making sense of it. My downloads and updates have all been smooth, I have a few mods in my community folder, I have not modded or edited any of the program files, and I only fly the FlyByWire A320NX. Yes, I still have some issues to work out, especially adding or altering the arrival runway and STAR, when I still get the dreaded 'User' waypoint that wants to take me back to my last waypoint. But truth be told, I can actually say I am beginning to get some pleasure out of this sim. Here I am, sitting smoothly at FL370 soon to step up to 390 over the north Atlantic, enroute from St. Johns (CYYT) to Dublin (EIDW). Hopefully all the bugs people are experiencing can be worked out over time. Stay safe & fly happy!

If you just click on the 'Buy' button (not buy & download), it will just put in you Content Manager, and then you can install it whenever. -

FS Update

From what I am reading on the update screen, the "Japan-specific content is available as a free download in the Marketplace". This 8.78GB update addresses mostly fixes and the addition of 3 new airports. -

I know it is still new, but lets be honest, it was released way too early! We the 'purchasers' are truly beta testers on this one. But my biggest fear is that I'm not too sure the developers will truly be able to bring it up to an acceptable level. Going by what happened with the last 'update', I'm not really holding my breath. As much as I would like to see it develop and succeed, I have this nagging feeling that it will be abandoned 'unfinished', or left to third parties to take it over. I do hope I am wrong!

Having a bit of a problem with the A320 MCDU. If for whatever reason I have to change my runway and approach from whatever was in the flight plan originally, I find that there is a 'USER' waypoint created, which is typically the last waypoint I have passed, and so the a/c does a 180 turn around to go back to this USER waypoint. I also find that trying to delete this waypoint does not work. Is there something I am doing wrong? Any assistance appreciated.

Msfs2020 Best Buy
StubbornSwiss replied to coloradofly's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 General Discussion
I currently have the MS store copy, but I am so tempted to buy this disc version and uninstall what I have now, just so I have access to my set up files (in particular the .exe file). Very tempted!! -
I plan a flight, get ATC clearance and proceed on the flight, getting clearances as I go. Sometime into the flight I get this option showing in the ATC window. If I click on it, I get a new clearance, to the same destination, but altitude clearances start again as if I just took-off. So if I am at FL 260 and I click on this, I may get the clearance, with an initial altitude of 8000'. Anyone else seeing this?

Kapitan....... I think you are way too quick to assume that people don't know what they are talking about. Not all of us may be as smart as you, but that doesn't mean we are all dummies. Please go back and read my whole post and try and understand what I posted. As a matter of fact, ATC gave me a clearance to my destination as inputted on the FMC. Maybe you should try it.... you may learn something new. Now back to my question. Has anyone who has actually tried this got any feed back for me? Thank you. (And talking about what pilots have to do? I may know a little bit about that, being a retired airline pilot. But thats besides the point).

Greetings! Here is the scenario...... I select the A320, choose an airport and a gate, select weather, DO NOT select a destination, and load the sim. I am at the gate, cold and dark and I fire up the a/c. I use the MCDU to enter my flight plan (having worked it out on an external site e.g.SimBrief), including departure, destination, waypoints, flight level and everything else. In my ATC window, I now get the option to request clearance and after requesting clearance get a correct clearance with an initial climb altitude. However, after take-off and reaching this initial altitude, I do not get any further climb clearance. I will be honest, after waiting for what I know was way too long, I discontinued the flight. Anyone else experience this? Am I maybe doing something wrong? Any assistance appreciated.

Has anyone also noticed that ATC has developed a few 'problems' after the update? Yes, there are new voices, to replace the old one, but with this also came new bugs. The one that really gets to me is when for instance you are told to change frequencies to, for example '127.5'. What you hear is change over to "Oscar-November-Echo-2-7-point-5". Anyone else noticed this yet? I am currently flying with absolutely no mods.

I had the same thing as well. But if you go to the top of the screen, and click on the bell icon with the blue dot with the number 1 (to the left of your user name), it will show you that the update did install. Unfortunately, even after it shows this, it will still continue to show that there is an update available. Microsoft for you!
