  7. Greetings Tom, Thank you! I am glad you brought this up as the issue is still at large. I second this and encourage all to place your vote. As many of you attend and show interest in our live events, it can be a struggle. Again, thank you, Tom. -Zoo
  8. This was a fantastic event. Griphos, thank you so much for sharing your real-world knowledge with us. All involved learned a great deal. I enjoyed the low-stress environment that you created for us. It helped greatly as we stumbled through our calls. It was neat seeing 20+ folks doing pattern work at KHQM. It was a bit crazy but in a fun way. I look forward to next week's (Sunday) session.
  9. What: ATC Comm Workshop for Newbies When: Starting Oct 31st, Sunday (repeating weekly), 9:00a PT / 12:00p ET / 1600 UTC Where: TeamSpeak3, connect to ts3.digitalthemepark.com Additional Info: http://www.digitalthemepark.com “mic frightâ€, “brain lockâ€, “tongue-tied†are all terms you have heard real or virtual pilots describe their first time/attempt using the aircraft’s comm radios. Many of us want to be perceived as being perfect in public. People who are normally very eloquent will freeze up when you put a microphone in front of their mouth. It’s tough to be natural in an unnatural situation, even for professionals. Okay…so that last paragraph wasn’t fair and we hope we didn’t scare you away from this post. If you want to …ease… into using comms, why not give this workshop a go! What if there was a place to learn in a relaxed atmosphere? DigitalThemePark has traditionally been an initial stepping stone for many on the path to PilotEdge and VATSIM (Excellent services and highly recommended!), especially during our weekly Discover and Achievement flights. We have put together a series of workshops that keep it fun, entertaining, and a bit of learning too. Our methods are to help you Understand, Interpret, and Learn. Below are a few of the topics we will cover in the upcoming weeks: We want to first work on overcoming “mic fright†that all of us get. Learn the aviation communication language and the importance of brevity. Learn and understand the 5 W’s: Who you are talking to?, Who you are?, Where you are?, What do you want to do?, Who you are talking to? Learn and practice the basic traffic pattern (Non-controlled airports, Controlled airports, Practicing in busy traffic) Learn airspace transitioning and the associated interactions Being comfortable with all of the above and most of all having a good time! Heck let’s start with the basics in three easy steps and learn something right now! The initial contact “You make a request to air traffic control†The instructions “They give you specific instructions to follow†The readback “You repeat these instructions to confirm that you understood them correctly†Simple right? 11. Low and slow mostly. The Bagolu C172 Amphib up in Alaska with Return To Misty Moorings scenery is my current enjoyment. I fly the DA40 or a tail dragged for the our Iceland tour on Saturday flights. The C208 for our Wednesday night Skypark flights. With all that being said, when the Leonardo MD-80 is released for MSFS, I’ll doing a lot more higher altitude stuff.

Phil "Griphos" over at DigitalThemePark has created this new series. You will want to consider your aircraft of choice carefully! The magical southwest, the land that inspired countless artists, steeped in history, drenched in sun, and dappled with Anasazi ruins, pueblos, mesas, and split by the impressive Sangre de Cristo mountains. Come join us as we take off from Santa Fe and explore this country. We will surf the Continental Divide into southern Colorado, visit the Black Canyon of the Gunnison and Telluride, fly down the famous Silver Highway to Durango, tour several of the most famous Anasazi ruins (nicely modeled in MSFS) and pueblos in Arizona and western New Mexico and come back home to Santa Fe. We will be riding the Divide for the first legs of this adventure, so you will need a plane with a service ceiling of at least 14,000 ft and enough power to climb to the peaks and ride the ridges between them. The shortest runways are in the 4000 ft range, so general aviation aircraft, like the Piper Arrow. Legs are roughly 100 nm long, and we will take a leisurely pace in order to take in all the incredible scenery. Most of these airports are dirt or paved airstrips, but most of these have sufficient length and width for single-engine GA aircraft. Note: We suggest getting connected before the event in order to make sure your headset fully works, and familiar with TeamSpeak. Download TeamSpeak at http://www.teamspeak.com

Even the most adventurous simmers can fall into the trap of flying only familiar routes and aircraft. As a contract pilot on Skypark, you can choose worldwide adventure or chase financial success. The Skypark is a living playground within your sim. Indulge your fantasies of traveling the world by air while working a market of worldwide contracts. Don't own Skypark, not a problem. Just meet up with us at the scheduled time and fly with us. Although scheduled in the US evening time, we will typically do real weather but will adjust the time to daytime in most cases. When: Starting Wed 2/24, 5p PT, 8p ET, 0100 UTC Where: Teamspeak3 @ ts3.digitalthemepark.com Recommended simulator: Microsoft Flight Simulator Recommend add-on: //42 The Skypark Recommended aircraft: Whatever you feel is appropriate More info at https://digitalthemepark.com/2021/02/23/weekly-42-skypark-flights/
  23. Greetings Sherm, Wow! Really glad to hear this. Thanks for sharing. "Griphos" did a great job at taking our existing flights and recreating new ones. It really adds life to the older achievement. Maybe someday we can get you in the FlightSim.com/DTP TeamSpeak to meet some of the folks when you have a bit of open time. Just as an FYI, I added you to the Achievement database. When you do a flight just ping me on TeamSpeak or send me a private IM that you completed a leg. -Zoo
