  1. Just for fun, here is a comparison with Microsofts original panel.
  2. This poster was a great reference! The original being high resolution of course. There are differences in certain areas between Lear 35 cockpit revisions, the autopilot layout is one such area. Many photos online also reveal button layout differences. Also, I changed AOA for a compass as the compass would be higher up on the centrepost than FS5.1 let you see. I am a bit puzzled that Microsoft chose to use the Learjet 31 cockpit avionics for the 35, in their original panel. Or was that an optional upgrade for LJ35 as well?
  3. As I was working on the graphics on my previous posted panel, I felt the panel was not very "real" in contrary to my statement. My work on the cockpit art felt wasted if I was just going to use unrealistic digital gauges based in an old 90s panel mod. So I decided not to keep the Uwe Strauch A320 avionic elements and instead restart and go hardcore in making an authentic analog Learjet 35A panel. At least as far as FS5.1 allows me to. The only thing I havent done is write my own gauges, so some of Peter Kruesis excellent 737 gauges and art was borrowed and built upon for this project. So with the help of a Simuflite panel layout poster and many photographs of the actual Lear 35A cockpit, I set out making it as good as possible. Even made a new Lear 35 custom gear lever icon, which is animated. For the elements that are borrowed, I will write proper credits. But overall I have done an enourmous amount of pixel drawing, .pnl file modifications, palette conversions, icon modding, and cross checking with FS5.1. So now I have a template of design elements, so it is relatively easy to change say panel backgrounds, art, etc. Thank god for modern tools like Pixelformer, GIMP, DOSBox, and nothing could have been possible for me without the tool set that is PANMOD5 for DOS. :pilot: This was a real test of patience and a lot of work. I have the mother of all mouse arms now.. But everything is in its place and works great. Check ut the screens.
  4. Yes, I hope to be able to upload it soon, for all to enjoy :) But I got a few things to iron out, and I want to make sure I credit all my sources. I have made many graphic improvements as well to the panel yesterday, will post screenshot later.
  5. I made a new Gates Learjet 35a panel for FS5.1! This was a real brain twister, I did a lot of trying and failing and went through various revisions before I finally managed to get it together. Modding FS5 panels is among the most user-unfriendly experiences ever... Started off with Uwe Strauchs A320 panel, and built on it, borrowed elements from David Durst FS2000 Lear panel, as well as icons from Marc Suxdorf and some graphics from Peter Kruesis MD80 panel. I went for an updated avionics look, as I liked the layout of Strauchs panel. Had to use some time consuming procedures and a lot of old programs to get everything the way I wanted it. Converting palettes was a real bitch for some reason. But it paid off, and I feel this is the panel Microsoft should have shipped in 1996. It goes together wonderfully with Terry / Mike Hills Learjet 35a, which I have also done a repaint of. Just a few improvements to be done in the upper part. :p
  6. I have been searching high and low for the rare EGA version of this classic combat flight simulator for years, asking about many other forums. So now I try here, hoping that there might be a real MicroProse collector in this forum. The EGA version had quite different graphical style, in my opinion more in line with the original Project Stealth Fighter on C64. Anyone?
  7. Eh.. yes they do. FS95 and FS98 run wonderful in VMware, because in VMware you can run Windows 98. It runs just the way it should, and would have done back in the day. DOSbox will run on almost anything, and is suitable for everything prior to FS95. Also, FS2000, FS2002, FS2004 and FSX all run great in Windows 10 Enterprise 64 bit.
  8. VWware is virtualization software that you install on your pc, that will let you run old operating systems like win 98 / win XP. That way you can enjoy old flight sims like FS95, FS98, FS2000, FS2002, Flight Unlimited 2 / 3, Sierra Pro Pilot, etc. However, if you have little experience with these things, I would just go to archive.org and download FS2004 or FSX. I dont think your graphics card should have any problems running any of these, so don't worry about it. You also have newer sims like Xplane 9 / 10 / 11. Xplane 9 runs great on my low end laptop. Unless it is broken, your controller should work right out of the box, plug and play in any modern OS.
  9. You can run FS5.1 and earlier in DOSbox, FS98 runs perfectly in VMware (preferably VMware Pro, for proper window scaling), FS2002 & 2004 and FSX should work perfectly in windows 7. They also all run in windows 10. FS2002 and 2004 are very light on CPU. :)
  10. I can only find the 727 panel. Where did his excellent 707 panel for FS98 go? Does anyone still have the files?
  11. Hello fellow simmers. I am looking for Aeti's "The Jet Age", by great designers Terry Hill and Thomas Main. It was available in the late 90s as both download and physical CD-ROM, but I cannot find it anywhere online. And there is nothing on ebay. The panels look excellent, and Terry Hills aircraft are usually very good. https://web.archive.org/web/19980520233710fw_/http://simpilot.com/index.html Reading the old website above, the download was just 6.1 mb? Is anyone willing to share this with me? Please? :) As I have stated in my other request threads, I have a lot to offer in return.
  12. Can anyone confirm if this is compatible with FS98? The review here on Flightsim is a bit unclear. I would be grateful to get in touch with anyone who has this, and is willing to share / trade. I have a lot of FS5.1 / FS98 goodies to offer in return. :)
  13. Did you happen to find these mlr91? I cannot for the life of me find them anywhere for sale or trade.
  14. I am posting this here because it seems to be of same time period, and Pro Pilot has no dedicated space. Specifically looking for the USA branded edition of Pro Pilot, which is the second release of Pro Pilot. This version was supposedly fully updated, had new aircraft, better textures and some other nice features. Both Pro Pilot 98 and 99 is uploded to archive.org, but not this one. If anyone has this, please get in touch. :)
  15. I have it, but have only tested it with FS5.1. FS Global Upgrade creates its own FS "world", with its own "world.vis" file. So you can change between FS default and FS Global on the fly. The scenery in general is very nice and detailed, based on real data. Lots of new airports and cities, detailed coastlines, landscape, etc. It promises a lot. It does have some bugs though, and I was very disappointed with the following: -FS Global Upgrade uses synthetic mountains, which are not textured in FS5, but they are automatically textured in FS98. -There are no buildings, bridges or other objects, only roads and rivers, etc. You can copy over city BGLs from default FS5 / FS98 to FS Global Upgrades "world", and get buildings. Problem is roads and such are doubled with FS Global Upgrade ones. Also buildings and textures are hit and miss. They gambled that the product would take off, and that developers would make a lot of new "FS Global compatible" sceneries. This did not happen. So I would say it does not blend well.
  16. Great! I would really appreciate if you would share them both with me, if you find them. I have Collection 4 Business Jets, as well as a lot of other cool FS5 addons for you. I'll add you as friend so we can send PM.
  17. Completely impossible to find or buy now, anywhere. I have a lot of hard to find FS5 goodies to offer in return. Surely, someone among the readers here must have it? I would love to have the included cockpit, which is made by Peter Kruesi. Can anyone please help me out?
  18. Nice, I'll get in touch. I agree with you on all points here. There are some things here and there online if you look in the right places. Some can be found on archive.org. Nels, the freeware that is one here is great, thanks for still dedicating space to preserving content for the old sims here over the years! The only thing which I think is a bit sad is that there seems to be very little activity or interest for the really old games, compared to other game series with a strong retro community.
  19. Hi Char, thanks for responding! Sure I can. Is there any way you can PM me your email? :)
  20. I am looking for the panels in this collection, if anyone could help me out. It is quite impossible to find anywhere online or on ebay. https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/content.php?975-Technic-Direct-HQ-Aircraft-Collection-2 Regards :)

  22. I noticed there were surprisingly few panels for the standard Learjet, or any business jet in general for FS5.1. If you are flying big birds there are some great panels around, but very few for smaller jets. The default Lear panel is not very pretty. On Apollo's Business Jets addon, there is a licenced "King Air" panel by Marc Suxdorf which is recommended for all turbine aircraft, but although it is excellent, it is not very jet-like. I did however find Peter Kruesi's improved Lear panel, and it was very nice and seemed like a good basis for my own modding. I had no clue how to improve it, but after finding the panel modding tools on an old cd-rom I got kinda carried away.. So here is my new Business Jet Panel 2.0. Should be good for most 80s/90s bizjets. Using the groundwork of Kruesi's 27 year old Lear panel, I have worked some evenings on updating the graphics. "Pixelformer" was a great tool for this. I did in fact borrow some elements from Suxdorf's panels, like the "glass" radio and engine displays. Other elements I took from FS2002, but I spent a lot of time putting it all together and editing individual pixels. Still some small details to fix, but what do you think? :) Here are some screens, the first 4 are from my new panel. The last picture is Peter Kruesi's original. We are arriving Chicago and Meigs field, using FS Global Upgrade for FS5.1! Happy flying!
