  1. I think there are some problems with the narrative to this. Not sure where the info was sourced from? Look here http://www.verdon-roe.co.uk/pictures-videos-of-avro-aircraft1907-1908 (2nd pic is original coming out of shed in Brooklands). It never had a tailplane or vertical surfaces it was always canard. The narrative for this seems to be confused with the later Roe1 TRIPLANE http://www.verdon-roe.co.uk/pictures-videos-of-avro-aircraft1909-1914 which I thing was his 3rd build there was also a more conventional bi-plane layout built in 1911. All this data can be checked from original Aeroplane magazines in the NAL Farnborough (National Aerospace museum).
