The sim has a new flight model and they’ve been focused on getting it to work with fixed wing aircraft and have said helicopters will be added.

Thats great news and most likely Helicopters will be in a expansion pack for $. Another reason I am gonna wait !

One thing i do to keep FSX interesting is to follow the NASCAR schedule. Before the race weekend I fly from my home airport KDTW Detroit to the nearest airport where they are racing. Then hop in a Heli and fly to the track. Then back. Am really hoping FS2020 adds Helicopters ! Am designing my new cockpit with that scenario in mind !

Building yes but im waiting for more details about FS2020 and how it interfaces with multi screens, panels etc before I decide on final build

Some of you guys may be negative or overly critical of, yet to be out there, hopefully fantastic, FS 2020 ... I think it will be an adventure, technically and experientially ...

Hope i dont come across negative, overly critical just cautious and curious. I am wigged to see this puppy on my new system when the build is done ! Even the standard offline version is IMO worth the $60 ! I have been buying MS Flight Sims since FS 1.0. Got almost every edition so I have been thru the promises and let downs. This time I am forced to wait until my new PC's and rig is flight worthy sometime towards the end of the year as my current system falls short..... CANT WAIT !!!!

Each level in the specs should be considered a minimum to achieve a certain level of performance. They aren’t going to keep updating the specs as new components come out.

Great comment ! Am assuming FS2020 will run better with no barriers unlike FSX ? I know with FSX that the performance gets to a certain level and any more PC power is a waste.

They have been pretty quiet on the SDK and add-on development side of things. Hopefully more details come out soon.

Thanks Loki ! I looked for hours and found nothing concrete ! I really like ADE, Airport Design Editor tool for FSX ! A little choppy but was fun editing my home Airport near my house.

The Airport Traffic, ground crew, gas and electric truck etc in FS2020 looks really cool ! Its really gonna add a realism depth to my/our experience ! I know there is FSX add on's i could purchase but I made a promise to myself not to buy any addon's and spend that money on a new cockpit, PC's etc

Let me explain what the boxed version actually contains. Microsoft Flight SImulator (that's the name, not FS2020) contains four major parts (Note the sizes are estimates from what we know at this moment.)

 

The simulator code itself (the 'sim') that is around 15 MB, this is a mandatory part of the sim.

The world and aircraft delivered by Microsoft, (that content depends on the version (the 'content') that is around 90 GB, this is a mandatory part of the sim.

Optional online streamed content (this is an optional part of the sim)

3rd party files (clearly fully optional)

Our DVD's contains 'all' of part 2, apart from the updates Microsoft and Asobo do between the moment the the DVD's are pressed and release. When you install, the sim will updates all files immediately form the servers and you will get the very latest code for the simulator itself and all content is updated. This is very much a simulator that depends on the cloud if you want to use it to its full potential. So the boxed version makes it possible for people on a slower internet connection to get the sim installed without downloading the 'content'. So the simulator is in every way, 100% the same. The boxed retail version just gets you a nice box, printed manual and about 90 Gb you do not have to download. There is no difference between boxed retail and the verison MS sells directly.

It doesn’t. Read it again. The Premium has 10 planes in addition to what the Standard one has.

Each level has more planes and airports than the previous.

Nothing on the official site says a subscription is required for any of the features. The only subscription listed is Xbox Gamepass for PC, which is not required to buy the game.

Went back and actually stopped doing my usual 5 things at once and focused on your Posts ! Bottom Line your suggestions along with Charlies worked ! I know have SP2 in the free flight, Help, About :)........... THANK YOU GENTS !!!!!!.... Are there any other SP's that I need to worry about before I start to rebuild my Flight empire.lol ?

The 'requires the English version' statement implies that you either have a non-english version of the game OR that the language element is missing or corrupted.

 

Three options you could try - a repair of the FSX install, attempt manually installing the MSXML 4 component from your FSX disk or downloading a suitable language based MSXML4 SP2 update.

 

Option 1 - Insert FSX disc ONE and run the repair option.

 

Option 2 - Insert FSX disc TWO into the drive and stop it from auto-running. Right click on the drive icon and select OPEN from the resulting menu. This will show the contents of the disc. Scroll down the contents to located a file named msxml - it will have a standard MS Windows Installer icon. Double click on the file to run the program. Once the installer has done its work reboot and test FSX.

 

Option 3 - Go to this MS PAGE and download a version compatible with language version you have. As you are using Win 10 a possible relevant point to make here is that, if you have the English version of the game and methods 1 or 2 resolves the issue, it may still be beneficial to download and install the English version of this file.

Downloaded the file.in option 3, SP2 Installed it or i thought and got the game running with a new Flight Simulator Deluxe version of the game. Thought all was good so I have been flying for sometime. I recently tried to join vATSIM. Said I need SP2. I checked by starting a flight, Going to Help tab, About and sher enough it says I only have SP1 install..... Did a complete delete and reinstall of FSX. Before doing anything I reinstalled SP1 and 2. Downloaded it to the download page and ran install from there.... Still shows no SP2 ? THANKS for your help !

ORBX stuff really make FSX... alive, especially if you're a GA planes pilot.

Using LC, Global, lib, all FTX regions, many freeware and payware add-on airports.

(We become some kind of addic..!). Like Larry wrote, it's eye-candy.

You can find a lot of freeware sceneries on their website. You could "see" what it looks like.

Steve's DXfixer not only fix weirdos (like square halo from lights) that we get on DX10 but

is also a great soft for fine-tuning reflexion, transparency shadow, and fix shadow in cockpit.

ADE is an excellent (and free) program that lets you modify or build airports, but you can also do a certain amount of scenery in the same area -- one piece that I did was over 10 miles from the airport, and 5,000+ feet higher, as well, in the same .bgl as the airport mods I did. There are other programs out there, but I'm not familiar with them.

Got ADE, Airport Design Editor que'd up ready to download. My delay is waiting for my new DVD's of FSX. Recently decided to move FSX to my new laptop and go all in with FSX. Over the years I lost my originals and had no luck moving the program over without the DVD's. Should be here in a few days. SO excited ! THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
