  1. I wonder if it could be due to the p factor and torque. I noticed it has been pulling left on take off like a c172. It being a jet I would think it would act a little bit different.
  2. So it travels sideways even when it shows coordinated flight.
  3. The turn was made about 3 minutes prior. It was a left turn and the angle was steady. I have noticed that if I turn and then fly level it will still drift in the direction of the turn for about 1 minute and then suddenly it will stop drifting. But even the slightest turn to correct the path will cause it to drift again. But that is a full drift with the nose AND tail lined up. This video shows a combination of a bit of the drift AND with the nose and tail not lined up.
  4. Yeah, I know you have mentioned it. I just thought it would be a good idea to show a video of it. Were you able to see the video just to confirm?
  5. So I've asked this question a few times and it seems the answer is that it's an issue with FSX. I noticed the plane doing a side slip BUT it's coordinated and no wind. This results in landing with my tail left, my nose right, and the CG going straight down the runway. I have been having trouble explaining it so I FINALLY made a video to SHOW it. Could someone take a look just to confirm? https://youtu.be/C2ECvbvtdmU
  6. I'll take the lack of response as a no.
  7. I wanted to thank you all for your feedback and advice. I've gone from knowing almost nothing to being able to control airspeed properly, know when and how to lower flaps properly, and have even managed to not only hit centerline consistently but also in the first 3rd at -100 on the vsi. Your help has been awesome. At some point I would love to ask one of you to accompany me in multiplayer to watch and let me know what areas I may need to keep working on.
  8. Ok, so I have been using a laptop with about a 17" screen for fsx. Then I got a 24" extra monitor. I used the extra one to extend my view looking left because it's normally a left traffic pattern. But tonight I got a wild hair in me and put the larger one above the other. So I now have the bottom one showing the instruments up closer (I can read them now lol) and the top is looking forward out the window. Now I can see the runway from a greater distance. But what I wanted to share is how much more realistic it seems now. Can't wait to try bigger screens with 2 set up like this AND two on the sides.
  9. By the way, just so I get a good idea of WHY it works what is it about these particular settings that makes it help? I mean, why does adjusting Cmo to -140 help? and what is Cmo? Oh, and another thing...I think you would be proud of me. I've gotten the hang of hitting center line even with this issue lol.
  10. Also seems easier to see in the larger jets. I do remember asking before about this and you let me know about it. But I wasn't sure if it was also happening to the larger planes or if it was inertia effects for them. I had made the changes to the c172 you recommend a while back and it did help with that one. I just needed to know if inertia played a part in it at all. Thanks again!
  11. I was just thinking about how inertia effects the turns of an aircraft. Am I correct in assuming that a plane can roll out of a turn to straight and level flight but still have a slight "drift" in the direction of the turn for a few seconds? Or does the rudder cancel it out if the turn was coordinated? Just wondering because I noticed even with autorudder in fsx it seems there is still that slight drift for a moment but it seems to be less if I bank the other direction for a second and then return to straight flight. I have also noticed that even autopilot seems to have this issue with the larger planes.
  12. Saved a flight at 2000 agl lined up about 5 miles out. Gives me time to catch the glidescope and adjust power and trim.
  13. I tried out the suggestions I have been given so far and now I have been able to keep it in the first 3rd. Actually, I may have to get used to the timing of the power change to idle since I am actually landing on the number now lol. Is there a rule of thumb for it? I get the threshold thing but sometimes I don't know where it is. Maybe start at a certain altitude like 200 ft? Thanks guys, I know I am asking a lot of questions but you have already helped me improve.
  14. Ok, so I found myself turning off autotrim lol. As was mentioned here it does seem better to make adjustments as you go. But setting the repeat to medium also seems to help rather than faster. It takes more time but seems to put me at the right trim. Learning to take things slowly is my biggest take away.
  15. Ah, ok that makes sense. So pulling back to idle at that point and slowly raise the nose to level flight? Then when close to the ground I can expect the rate of descent to decrease and combined with the flare I should end up with a nice smooth landing in the first 3rd? Let me know if I got something wrong in my thoughts here. And thanks again!
  16. I was reading somewhere that you should lower the speed to just above stall before getting to the threshold. Then round out and flare in ground effect. Not sure if that is how it should really be done though. All I know is that I need my approach speed (54-60) and I need to flare at some point. So are you suggesting that I just keep it at 60 and flare later? Or should I be setting throttle to idol at some point too?
  17. I thought I would go back to the beginning and fly the c172 as many suggest getting it mastered first. I've learned to be at traffic pattern and on the glidescope, full flaps and at 65kt. It isn't too hard to land in the first 3rd of the runway in the c172. But considering I want to improve I know I tend to float a little. Obviously when I used the larger aircraft it becomes more noticed and I typically end up touching down half way of the runway. So maybe I can learn to fix the issue in the c172. Again, I come in at 65kt. I put engine to idol at the threshold of the runway and flair about 10 ft above the runway. So what is it causing the float that I am missing? Oh, and wind is 0.
  18. I'll give it a go. So it's like you trim along the way rather than when you get to your pitch. Question, would you recommend using a button on the joystick or use the trim wheel in the Sim by scrolling the mouse wheel on it? It seems like using the button always had me "bouncing" like crazy so it seems like it wasn't really helpful. I would have to keep hitting the trim button all the time and never get it right.
  19. Yeah, I know that stalls are affected by it. It's just that in a Sim there are no real dangers in it since it isn't real. So I just don't spend the time required to do it right. But it's not always like that since I also want to learn so it's like a 50/50 with half my time of flying as if it's real to learn and the other half flying for the fun of it like a crazy pilot with a death wish lol. I do have a general idea of what is needed in regards to flaps and speed but I can tell you it would be much better if I had an instructor watching what I do and giving feedback while explaining the reasons behind things. Most of the tutorials online and really even in fsx are too basic. It's not enough for me to know what to do without knowing when and why too.
  20. I would have thought feeling the pressure of the yoke ease off would be enough to know when it is trimmed in the real thing. I've never heard of any pilot in training told to do it this way. Sounds like a good way to "bounce" around till you get it right?
  21. I didn't know about that add-on. I will have to check it out. Yes, it is good only if you want it for all aircraft and I can also see how it can actually defeat the purpose of making it more "realistic" because you no longer have to think about trim. But since I felt like it must not be realistic anyway due to the limitations on simulation vs really feeling the pressure I figured it was a good trade off. Of course, I have not had the chance to fly the real thing so it's just what I gathered from listening to others too.
  22. Why didn't anyone tell me about this? Maybe no one knows? So I want to share something about trim in FSX that has REALLY helped me. As you all know it's rather hard to adjust trim in FSX just right. For most of us we have to pull our joystick or yoke to the point we want to trim for and then hit the trim button. BUT in a real plane the yoke has the pressure removed when it's trimmed right. Not so in the sim. We are left to hit the trim button and then let go of the stick. We end up doing this a lot until the plane stays at about the right spot when we let go the last time. But this method is very much guess work and hard to get just right. So I've considered getting feedback yokes, and when I saw the price I tried to make a freaking pulley system to hold the joystick in place (failed). But now I can adjust trim perfectly and AUTOMATICALLY. When I pull the joystick to the point I want to trim for I can let go and it doesn't budge. Then when I want to change pitch I push forward (a little further than normal but not bad) and when I get to the point I want I let go and boom, I'm trimmed again. I suggest holding it in position a few seconds before letting go of the stick though because it takes a second for it to lock the trim in place. So, want to know how I did it? Go into the C drive > users > the admin folder (whatever it's named) > AppData (this folder is a hidden folder so you will have to unhide it) > Roaming > Microsoft > FSX > fsx (open the configuration file in notepad). Once you open it find AutoTrim=False under the [REALISM] heading. Change it to True and save. Now open FSX and try it out!
  23. I just started using fspassengers and it is awesome! It helped me understand certain things I need to do in taking off as well as landing. Never knew my landing was hard before because fsx doesn't really let you know. But one blown tire and screaming passengers did the trick lol. So I have started using it for failure simulation now. I never know what or when something is going to happen. So I was wondering if anyone knows where I can find some checklists or something to use in those cases? Like say the flaps don't extend. What should I do? Or electrical goes out, and so on.
  24. I think one of my issues is impatience lol. I don't often do a full final. I tend to get too excited and turn final about 5 miles out at 2000 feet agl. Guess that's not good for a 737 lol. At least not turning final at 240kts and not in configuration to land. But it works for the c172 lol.
