  1. Flight Sim Navigation 14 Landing at Sion RW25 Switzerland Another flight and landing, just for fun, this time at Sion, Switzerland, with stunning views during the approach over the snowy mountains and the green hills of the Swiss Alps. Link to the blog post.
  2. The link to the blog post was not correct ... this one is: Link to the blog post.
  3. Flight Sim Navigation 13 Landing at Lukla Tenzing Hillary Airport After 12 videos on NDB and VOR flight navigation using the radios and the ADF and CDI instruments it’s time for a short intermezzo. This video is a visual flight with approach and landing at Lukla Airport in the Himalayas. We’re all eagerly awaiting MSFS2020. The screenshots and the short videos that have been shown so far all look breathtaking, and I bet the flight experience and cockpits will be too. In anticipation a group of enthusiasts built a website called FlighLoc.com that contains an ever growing collection of 'must see' places on earth to fly tover or to land at with our flight simulator. First on the list is Tenzing Hillary airport at Lukla in the Himalayas. I can’t wait for FS2020 to arrive, but in the mean time we can alreeady enjoy the scenery with the Google Earth Flight Simulator. We can even land, be it that I have not found any brakes on the plane. Link to the blog post.
  4. Flight Sim Navigation 12 Intercept a VOR Radial Flying Inbound. Video 12 is about intercepting a VOR radial, this time flying inbound. The added step with relation to flying outbound is that our bearing will now be the 180 degree reciprocal of the radial we want to intercept. Link to the blog post.
  5. Flight Sim Navigation 11 Intercept a VOR Radial Outbound To intercept a VOR radial flying it outbound, we can use the CDI to find the bearing that gives us a 45 degrees intercept angle. Link to the blog post.
  6. Flight Sim Navigation 10 Fly To or From a VOR. Video 10 shows the steps to take to fly to or from a VOR (Very High Frequency Omni-Directional Range) radio beacon. 1: Tune the VOR frequency in one of the nav radios and listen to the Morse code to verify. 2: Turn the OBS knob until the CDI needle is vertical AND the TO/FR indicator shows what you want: fly towards or fly away from the VOR. 3: Read the bearing at the top of the scale and change heading to that bearing. Link to the blog post.
  7. Flight Sim Navigation 09 A Flight with NDB Navigation only. In this video & blog post we first create a flight plan based on NDB navigation only, then we fly it. All challenges of the previous videos are covered: track an NDB inbound and outbound, cross wind bracketing and intercept a bearing. Despite an i7 processor the video has some stutter, I definitely need to get myself a new rig, even more with MSFS2020 coming! Link to the blog post.
  8. Flight Sim Navigation 08 Tune NDB and show ADF on Garmin G1000 Glass Cockpit This video + blog post is about how an NDB frequency can be tuned in a Garmin G1000 anw the ADF can be shown on the display. Link to the blog post.
  9. Flightsim Navigation 07 NDB Outbound Tracking and Intercepting Video 7 is online. It's about NDB outbound tracking and intercepting a QDR, an outbound course. Link to Flightsim Navigation 07 NDB Outbound Tracking and Intercepting
  10. Flightsim Navigation 06 NDB Tracking, Bracketing The next video is online. It's about tracking, bracketing, towards an NDB with a crosswind that blows us off course while we don't know the wind speed and direction. Flightsim Navigation 06 NDB Tracking, Bracketing
  11. Flightsim Navigation 05 Wind Correction Angle The next video is online. It's about how to find the Wind Correction Angle when we have side wind and we need to change our heading to stay on course. Link to Flightsim Navigation 05 Wind Correction Angle
  12. Stuck at home thanks to the Corona virus I started a series of blog posts and videos about flightsim navigation with NDB, VOR, DME, GPS, which might be of interested to those who like to start flying IFR. The first posts are online, more to follow. / Link to the blog
