  1. Thanks for the replies, guys. Think I'll get a new one and the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro was, in fact, the one I'd already pencilled in. Thanks again. Neil
  2. My very old and very basic joystick (doesn't have a brand name on it and can't remember) has stopped working in that it will bank left and right and pitch down but won't pitch up. I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting and calibrating repeatedly but no joy. I guess it's just old and knackered and needs replacing but thought I'd post here first in case any of you guys know a quick fix to get a joystick working again. Thanks in advance. Neil
  3. Yes it is. I re-set to summer and this effect has now disappeared. Thanks a lot! Would you happen to know which effect to disable to remove this for snowy operations in future? Thanks again. Neil
  4. See picture - it's always there. Pic is of taxi out and the smoke trails will continue into the air (but detached from and below the plane and at wierd angles). It's happening on all aircraft, with different touchdown effects, and doesn't go away by //'ing out the touchdown effect or deleting the FSX.cfg. What's causing this and how do I get rid of it? Thanks in advance. Neil
  5. Thanks for replying. I think I've detected that the problem was that I hadn't pruned the parking spots heavily enough. I hadn't realised at first that there might be smaller ones totally concealed under bigger ones leading to 737s nestling under the wings of 777s. With further pruning, it looks much better now. Thanks again. (BTW, why would a scenery designer have all these overlapping parking spots? But perhaps that's for another thread.)
  6. Hello, I'm a total ADE novice so apologies in advance. In a freeware airport scenery I downloaded, the AI a/c seemed to overlap each other at the gates so I attempted to deal with that by using ADE to 'prune' parking spots so as to have none overlapping with each other. However (and even though I was certain the revised bgl was in the right place in substitution for the original one), when I fired up FSX again, the AI a/c were still all overlapping at the gates. Is curing this problem more complex than I'm imagining? Any tips gratefully received but please in very simple language taking no knowledge on my part for granted. TIA
  7. No beacon (rotating red light above and below fuse) or logo lights
  8. Roger that. Me too. I just downloaded the WA 733 and couldn't understand why it wasn't showing up in FSX. Thanks Mr Z, for the umpteenth time!
  9. Again, thanks for replying but not in the Recycle Bin and couldn't find a sample of two of the missing files anywhere else they shouldn't be. Have already reloaded them all from the zip of the original download because I always preserve these.
  10. Thanks for replying. But no, the a/v hasn't quarantined them.
  11. Recently, I loaded up a saved flight and the a/c I was using, having previously been just fine, was just a black silhouette. On investigation, I found its texture folder was empty. Same thing happened with a couple of AI aircraft. Yesterday, same thing with the (flyable) a/c I was using and at the same time the sim flashed a lot of warnings about some object libraries I'd installed recently. I confess I didn't pay much attention to them and just closed them but when I went to look, I found that the texture and scenery folders of these libraries were empty as well (until now they were working just fine). Does anyone know what might be causing this?
  12. Excellent, thanks for the quick reply!
  13. Please excuse my abominable ignorance but I've seen a few freeware sceneries that say "You need such and such an object library". I *think* I understand what an object library is (a selection of objects, like vehicles for e.g., that the scenery picks up on and if the library is not present, objects in it which the author has designed into the scenery won't appear - right?) but how do I install them? Is it just like adding a scenery area to the scenery library (at a level lower than the scenery area that uses it?) or something else? Can anyone direct me to a tutorial on this? Or if answering here, please keep your answers v simple assuming I know nothing! TIA
  14. Well, I'm calling them wingtip vortices but maybe not - see attached screenshot - the two lines above and below (and slightly offset to the left of) the plane. Anyone know how to get rid of them? For background, it's a Project Airbus A320neo and the problem only appeared when I swapped in the AIR.cfg from another PA 320. These lines do not appear with the donor aircraft. And the problem disappears again when I change it back to the original AIR.cfg. Thanks in advance for any help!
  15. Thanks for the reply. I'm not bothered about the lack of realism! It looks like I need to do more radical surgery than simply commenting out the interior. I'm basically trying to convert it into an a/c with no VC (which is what I prefer, be it ever so unrealistic). How do I do that? Answering my own question, find a tutorial about adding a VC and do it in reverse?
  16. Hello I removed the VC from an a/c (an A32X so I think it's the default A321 VC) I'm using by //'ing out the "interior=" section of the model.cfg but I'm not seeing the wing and engine when I look back ('over my shoulder') left or right. I don't know if that was masked by elements of the VC (like the seat headrest) or if it just wasn't there at all for some reason in this particular a/c. So does anyone know how I restore (or import from another a/c by copying lines of code etc.) being able to see the wing and engine when looking back? Thanks in advance.
  17. Just to add I had the same problem - why does my PA A321 sharklets model not show up in FSX despite being for FS9 but said to also work in FSX? The answer lay in mrzippy's comment four up from here - the problem was the panel cfg aliasing the FS9 default 737-400 panel when it should, of course, alias the FSX default A321 panel.
  18. Thanks for replying. I was doing it in Firefox but when I tried it in Chrome, MWB didn't seem to have an issue.
  19. Happy New Year all. When I tried to download the CRJ1000 from http://www.unitedtrafficteam.com/index.php/ai-models/utt/item/this-utt-ai-bombardier-canadair-crj-1000-model Malwarebytes warned me off it. Am I safe to override this or have there been issues with UTT's website anyone is aware of? Is there perhaps somewhere else that's 'safe' I could get this a/c from? TIA Neil
  20. I'm glad someone else had this problem but I must admit I didn't understand the solution - was the fault in the textures the OP was originally using and this was corrected by him downloading different textures? Anyway, I can't get the cabin or logo lights on with my 738 with Transavia textures tds_b738_f-gzhy-Transavia I've seen in other threads this may be a bit of a problem with the TDS 738 and I saw there was a patch available on their FB group but there were tons of files there and I had no idea which one was the right one. I don't suppose anyone's able to post up a quick fix to this here, by any chance???
  21. Sorry if this is a rather off the wall question but I tried a couple of BA AI aircraft (from ATCO repaints and Juergen Bambausch) but thought they both had a rather pinky-grey hue about them which I didn't think looked quite right until I wondered - is that the colour BA aircraft actually are? If so, I'd never noticed this before but I don't visit actual airports often enough to compare them with other white aircraft in the flesh. Any thoughts?
  22. Does anyone know where I can find some FSX AI flightplans for the big European charter airlines such as the TUIs and Condor etc.? There seem to be a few for FS9 but none that I could find for FSX.
  23. No. So I got FS9 textures to go with the FS9 model. Thanks again for the tip-off.
