  1. The aircraft portrayed by M. Fouchard also has an interesting history. This aircraft, named "Croix de Sud," served for a number of years for Aeropostale and its successor, Air France, flying mail across the South Atlantic. It disappeared over the Atlantic on a flight from Natal to Dakar, 7 December 1936. The last radio message from the flight put their position at 11o 8%u2019 N, 22o 40%u2019 W, and said "Coupons moteur arri%u00E8re droit, (right rear motor has stopped). The pilot was Jean Mermoz, France' most famous aviator of the time.
  2. M. Fouchard doesn't mention that the aircraft portrayed is Aeropostale's "Comte del la Vaulx," which made the first crossing of the South Atlantic, from St. Louis (Ndar), Senegal to Natal, Brazil, May 12-13, 1930, piloted by the legendary Jean Mermoz. Looking at the aircraft.cfg file, it appears that M. Fouchard's aircraft is carrying extra fuel to make it possible to simulate the transatlantic flight.
  3. I would suggest that you use the pilotable version of Erwin Welker's paddle steamship "Belle of Louisville" which is close to the size and speed of David Marshall's Washington State Ferry. Install Belle of Louisville in FS2004, and take it for a test drive. If it seems to be working, then 1) copy the Washington State Ferry files "ferry.mdl" and "model.cfg" into Belle of Louisville's model folder; 2) copy all the textures from the Washington State Ferry texture folder into the texture folder for "Belle of Louisville" 3) now the tricky part. You can either modify the "Belle of Louisville" aircraft.cfg file using info from "Washington State Ferry" aircraft.cfg file, or vice versa. I would recommend modifying "Belle of Louisville" aircraft.cfg by copying the [contact points] and [eyepoint] sections from "Washington State Ferry" to "Belle of Louisville," and editing the general information at the top of the page. 4) I haven't tried this myself, and I have probably forgotten something(s). 5) You can reasonably expect it won't all work properly the first time, but with some futzing what should happen is you get the Belle of Louisville's performance, sounds, and 2D cockpit attached to the Washington State Ferry 3D model.
  4. Well, in real life, the polar bears are in the Arctic, and penguins in the antarctic, so there is no need for the penguins to watch out. However, for scenery designers, anything is possible.
  5. note this scenery is catalogued as FS2004 while text indicates FSX
