  1. Hi, I have Prepar3d Ver 4 and would like to install an addon of my local airport. The directions says to "Just drag and drop the KAVP_ADEX_RWT.BGL file into your Addon Scenery/Scenery folder." I could only find the Scenery folder so I put it there, but it isn't recognized. I am not that tech experrienced. Thanks. Tom
  2. No, I'm not going crazy. At least I don't think I am. Just getting familiar with a new system and Prepar3d ver 4, I was taking off on the main runway 4-22 at my home airport KAVP when I thought I saw a string of planes flying very fast above. Turns out they were motor vehicles including large tractor trailers! I reversed my takeoff on the opposite runway and there they were again. It appears they were road and street vehicles flying above instead of on the highways. Any ideas on this one? If it helps, I have Prepar3d version 4, Orbx Global, Vector, and LC North America, and Active Sky for Prepar3d 4. Thanks. Tom
  3. Maybe "flickering" was not the correct term to use. I guess it's more a shadow effect you see when fan blades or prop blades are spinning slowly as opposed to when they spin fast, you may not realize the blades are there except for a faint arc at the tip of the blades.
  4. Hi, Just wondering if anyone is bothered by the spinning prop flickering in most FS planes. It is simply non realistic. Most of the planes I have flown in FSX or Prepar3d have a flickering prop disc which is normal at lower RPMs but during acceleration the flickering should smooth out and disappear to a smooth arc once at high rpm in flight just like in a real plane. In the default prop planes and most addons the flickering continues all the time and takes away the illusion of speed. Several years back I had the Flight1 Meridian and Flight1 got it right. At cruise all you could see was a faint arc out the windshield which looked very realistic. A2A also got it right with their Cessna 172. I just hope with all the great scenery and realism that FS2020 is showing in previews, that they tweak the spinning prop illusion. Does anyone know if it is possible to alter the prop disc in any FS plane. I currently am using Prepar3D. Thanks, Tom
  5. First of all, Thank You for taking the time to help me with this. I followed your directions and you were right, it will take some tweaking until I get it right, but I'm making progress. Regards, Tom
  6. Wow. You did a beautiful job! Do you mean the "size_mm=1024,768" line?
  7. Hi, No problem, the heat got to me too! Today feels much better. Here's Window 7: Thanks again for all your help. 8. Hi, Thanks for the quick reply. Hopefully, this is the section you want. 9. Hi, I have Prepar3D and am flying the A2A Cessna 172 with two monitors, a larger main one and a smaller one that I only use for smaller windows such as a GPS, or the 172's various smaller windows. All the smaller windows move over to my smaller monitor just fine once they are undocked with a right mouse click. However, when I undock the Preflight Checklist window (shift 8), the window instantly expands in size and the right side (about half of the window) is completely black. I try to reduce the black side with the mouse but the normal checklist side reduces as well. Any ideas? Thanks. Tom
  10. Hi, I have installed ORBX Global, Vector, and NA LC on Preepar3D with no problems. I also downloaded Pilots FS Global Ultimate for mesh and began the installation process but I am unsure of the next steps. Could someone please walk me through the rest? I have basic computer knowledge but that's it. I followed the included instruction sheet and unzipped the one file into a directory I named "Pilots FS Global Ultimate" . The path is Primary drive SSD{C): /USERS/TOM/DOWNLOADS/PILOTS FS GLOBAL ULTIMATE/. The LOCKHEED MARTIN directory is on the same drive. I also checked each of the 18 ".zxx" files with HASHTAB per the instructions to make sure they matched. The instructions further say in step 5 that "after unzipping corectly, you will find some *.bin and one *.exe file. Run this *.exe file to start the installation." Included with the 18 "SC.zxx" files is a compressed file "FSGUNGFTX_DL_SC" that opens to BIN files, several other files, and a "Pilots.Setup.cfg" file that has the Type "Application". There is also another compressed file "FSDISK1". This opens to two files FS GLOBAL_MESH which is a multi language intro sheet and an Interrnet Shortcut called "FSGX". Where do all these extras go? There are many other files included other than the BIN files mentioned in the instructions and no EXE that I can see. This is as far as I have gotten since I don't want to mess things up. The instructions only mention "some BIN and one exe file". I have several more including the compressed ones. Any help will sure be appreciated. Thanks, Tom
  11. Hi, I'm not new to Flight Sim but have been away from it for several years. I finally got a new system with a 1 TB SSD drive and a 2 TB HDD drive. The computer came with Prepar3d already installed and ready to go. I'm new to a 2 drive system but so far have installed ORBX Global Base, Vector, N A Landclass, and Orlando city. I also downloaded but still have to install Global Mesh. I also installed 3 A2A aircraft. Everything installed to the SSD drive which is where the main program as well as Windows 10 are located. In Explorer it is clear that the SSD drive is the main drive and the HDD is the secondary or "X" drive. Everything I installed so far automatically installed to the SSD with no option to select another drive. I happened to look in Explorer and was surprised to see that 1/4 of the SSD drive is already used. I was advised to keep all Prepar3d files together on the same drive for more effficient loading, especially scenery files. I still plan on getting a weather program, more aircraft, and an AI traffic program such as Ultimate Traffic. Later on I also considered giving X-Plane 11 a try. The computer was supposed to come with a 1/2 TB SSD drive but to be safe I went with the 1 TB. I've read of several experienced simmers that have great looking systems loaded with many addons with less memory than me or the same. Am I doing things correctly? I thought I could use the secondary HDD drive for scenery or addon programs such as weather, AI traffic, etc. to save space on the SSD drive but I don't know how they connect with the SSD main program. What's more, everything I've downloaded so far automatically wants to install on the default, main drive. The only way I am able to load files on the HDD is manually and have read that's all it should be used for-storage and backup, and that everything Flight Sim related should be together on the same drive. One article even said when the main SSD fills up, get a bigger drive and transfer everything to it or get a second external SSD. Can someone please point me the right way before I get to far if I'm doing something wrong? Hopefully I'm on the right track and if I fill the SSD I just get another drive. Thanks, Tom
  12. Hi John, Thanks for the help and info. I may be able to help you. ORBX says the "black water" problem can be solved by disabling the "Frozen Water Surface (Winter Only)" option in FTX Central under Options. I unchecked it but haven't tried it out yet. Hope it helps. Tom
  13. Johnost, Thanks for the reply. I installed Global, then Vector, and finally NALC. You mentioned Land Class before Vector. Could that make a diffference? Thanks, Tom
  14. Hi, i finally saved up enough to buy a new system after being away from simming for a few years. I made sure that I got a system that could handle Flight Sim as well. I chose Prepar3D because of its recommendation and reviews. I also bought and installed ORBX FTX Global, Vector, and the long awaited NA Landclass. I live in Northeastern Pennsylvania and have been waiting for years for good, accurate scenery that depicts my area well. When I stopped simming due to my slower computer, ORBX Open NA Landclass was still not available, but I read how great it would be. Well, after taking the first flight in my home area, I'm somewhat disappointed. The streets in my home area the WYOMING VALLEY, (Home airport is KAVP) are very inaccurate and parts with parks, etc. are also omitted. The streets are curved where they should be perpendicular to one or another as well as straight or parallel. Water areas appear OK and the Susquehanna River is pretty well done, but urban areas are missing in some parts or are visible where there are really none. I'm not being picky by trying to find my house or the corner Burger King, but I should be able to say "there's my housing development". It just seems that after the long wait, at least in my home area its not much better than the default scenery. I used to have UTX on my old system and streets and urban areas were done well including my housing development. To top it off there are black, water sections that stay black or flash on and off all over, not just in my area. Does anyone know of a good scenery that is accurate and recognizable to the real world? It would be great if ORBX would finally release some detailed Regional sceneries of the Northeast where one could say "There's my street" or the park near my house. Thanks. Tom
