  1. Do they have NDB's in FSX? I don't seem to see them on the Flight Planning Map.
  2. I need some way to tell how far I am from my destination airport. ILS frequencies only kick in around 27 miles out. I need something with far more distance than that. What should I look for at or near the airport to accomplish distance information?
  3. Yeah, that's what I thought too, but I wanted to see if there might be an easier way to fix this. Guess not. Thanks - I'm off to reassign. And right back again. As I anticipated, not so easy to reassign. First off, there are only three Slew commands listed in my Options/Controls section. Slew On/Off was already assigned the Y key. I knew that going in. The only other Slew commands available are Slew Right (Tilt) and Slew Left (Tilt). Where are the ones I really need, i.e., Slew Up, Slew Down, Slew Forward, Slew Back and Rotate?
  4. No, but thanks for the response.
  5. My Slew feature isn't working 100%. I hit Y and "Slew" appears in the lower right of the screen, so that's good. But then not much else happens. I used to be able to twist the joystick handle to rotate the plane on its axis, in place. That doesn't work any more. I can't slew sideways or up and down. And yes - I am flying FSX. What's the fix for this, please?
  6. The spoilers are supposed to extend when the main wheels hit the runway. "Sweet spot"? I don't understand. To arm the spoilers, all you have to do is hit Shift-/. Where does a "sweet spot" figure into that? What's a PITA?
  7. No. I am watching in spot plane view from behind the aircraft in a "live" landing.
  8. Interesting. The first two never happen, but I might not be getting a steady throttle signal. How do you calibrate your joystick to insure a steady throttle signal? Just go through all of the calibration steps?
  9. I like to land in spot plane view from directly behind the aircraft. I'm kind of chuckling here. You say you never had a problem with spoilers extending automatically in default aircraft but they wouldn't do it in the add-ons. TextRich says just the opposite - that he has never had a problem with add-ons, but it's the default planes that won't do it for him. You know, if you take a look at the Similar Threads, below, it appears this is a long-standing problem with FS in general. Just sayin'
  10. I touch down smooth as glass. Would you try it with your 737-800 and see if they deploy for you on touch down?
  11. Last thing I do before touch down is turn off AP and the Autothrottle. I also make sure the joystick throttle is in full off position. I don't think I am increasing any thrust in between the time I turn off all those things and touch down. Might I unknowingly be increasing thrust by failing to do something else I should have done? If so, what?
  12. I hate to keep belaboring this topic, but (now that I know that speed brakes and spoilers are the same thing), I am wondering why my spoilers don't activate when the mains touch the runway, even though I have activated the spoilers and it so indicates on the panel. Default B737-800. Anyone? Is this a bug?
  13. That says the Speed Brake is armed, not the spoilers.
  14. Is there a way to tell whether or not your spoilers are armed? I don't see anything on the panel indicating that one way or the other. Default Boeing 737.
  15. How do you guide your plane to the Transition Point (the beginning) of a STAR? How do you know you are there? Sounds like a stupid question and it may well be, but I don't know the answer.
  16. Is there a key for shutting down the AT or do we have to do it from the panel? Also, is the Speedbrake necessary when landing, assuming your approach/localizer/glideslope speeds are proper?
  17. I approach the localizer at 2000 ft AGL. I am at 160 as I approach the localizer, 150 when I am on the localizer and 145 (or appropriate landing speed for whatever jet I may be flying at the time) going down the glideslope. I cut the AP at 400 ft. AGL and cut the AT immediately thereafter.
  18. Never mind. Turning off Autothrottle does wonders. I hadn't been doing that.
  19. Now I have a new problem. Thanks to y'all, I am able to hit the localizer, the glide slope and land the plane. The new problem? I can't stop the sucker once it is down. I do everything I used to do (which worked at the time) but none of it seems to work now. The plane just keeps going, hurtles off the end of the runway, killing dozens of innocent people. This has to stop! (I am flying the default, Boeing 737) Here is what I do to try to make it stop: I set the AUTOBRAKE to max. I ARM the SPOILERS. Once the plane is on the runway, I hit the REVERSE THRUSTERS. None of these things seem to have any effect. As far as I can tell, the autobrake never engages. I can see that the spoilers never engage, even though they are armed. Aren't they supposed to come up once the plane touches down, assuming they are armed? And the reverse thrusters never come on. I am left to hit F-1 and F-2 and pump on the parking brake, none of which have any effect either. Little help here, please?
  20. It's been a number of days. I have used FSX a lot, doing just about everything you can do from the menu over and over again. No Fatal Error. Problem solved. Sticking that .dll file in there is what did it. Thank y'all.
  21. Hole everything, guys. I think I have the problem solved. Things work a lot better when I am using a default FSX plane.
