MSE is mega scenery earth. If you go to their web site you can get Hawaii for just $5. Its got some minor faults is why its so cheap but its more than worth it :-)

All very good, they are the 3 layers required to make FSX scenery come alive for Autogen only but they cost $$$$$ Desert mountainous areas like southern California look better with photo scenery due to no autogen/trees etc and I already have MSE SO CAL and its fantastic especially night lighting. I tend to buy photo scenery when its on sale if its where my payware airports are located. eg I just bought Florida and Illinois at half price. Im going to do Photoscenery where it cant be bought yet but havnt had time in the last few days, hopefully I can start tomorrow

There has been a slight change of plans. After installing a large area over LOWI I applied 10% contrast and it blended well with the scenery however I have 2 layers of mesh and landclass+ vector scenery and GEX and with the stunning season change it blows Photo scenery away!! lol even at LOD16. So Im going to try more sparse terrain since there is not much autogen. Some where in the middle east perhaps

Yeah what a shame about Microsoft I think they underestimated the following for sure but thank goodness for companies such as ORBX that have a vision for FSX . Im quite happy with the patform, I dont get any CTD and OOMS are very rare so I can look forward to many years of enjoyment. Im currently trying to create photo scenery for Austria. In the tutorial he uses a zoom of 13 before going to the add map from back ground. Is this zoom a recommendation or something that can be varied? I can see the zoom effects the LOD radius available so I assume a higher zoom=higher Lod?

Ah yes its all starting to make a bit more sense now.. Another question, how do I make 2 sets of sceneries for the one island? eg st Maarten is to big for Sbuilderx To capture. Another annoying thing is Im starting to get blue screens since installing all the software. Got to find a way around that one quickly

Hey another question, whats the procedure for scenery that has no water? lets say I want to create a country town about the same size as Nauru. Do I use just blend mask to blend it into FSX default?

Thanks of course i was referring to memorizing just the scenery part of the tutorial, PART V - Working with SBuilderX - Polygons looks very complicated, do you use it much? When selecting a largish area for photo scenery does every airstrip need to be modified with PART V ? Im still trying to get a handle on the big picture regarding Photo scenery in fsx. Yes of course the track ball sounds perfect for the job and less intrusive than a tablet.

some guidance needed here :-) I have been at this for ever and my head is spinning but I understand how it all locks in now , oh well nearly lol When it comes time to enter the numbers in the INF file I compare mine to the Authors but I noticed that the source file in mine is SourceFile = "L17X252608X252651Y131434Y131479.BMP" I dont know why because I renamed it as required earlier on. I see your point regarding the fuzzy logic and thats a nice little trick to stop it jumping the boundary. I hope you dont mind if I have questions for you from time time. So far Ive had 3 attempts but keep getting caught up in the same area however Im learning plenty more with each attempt especially how easy and quick it is to use features like fuzzy logic in Gimp :-) I have a high end system but with only 8g of fsx Ram and I did run out of memory today . Thanks for the tips and time now to read the whole thread. edit just out of curiosity , I noticed MSE are having a 50% sale right now. I have a fair idea of the time frame to successfully complete Nauru but lets say if one was to do the whole state of Florida including the keys, how long would that take? Im trying to compare the man hours vs 20 bucks ha ha

Hi guys I have been following this amazing tutorial and have decided to dive into photo scenery as Im retired and have a lot of time on my hands so between this and flying the T777 I should be able to keep pretty busy :D However Im stuck in a very basic area. Going PART III - Watermasks and Blendmasks section 19 below has me stumped. "19) Now delete your background image layer and then your watermask layer (right click)" Delete is easy enough but I dont get "water mask layer (right click)" can some one clarify this for me ? many thanks in advance
