  1. Yep, one more Update!!!!..1.17.3.0....5.21 Gig

We will have to get a 5 Tera Disk with these guys sending updates like Popcorn!!!!!...we got screwed with this, sold us a Super Alpha!!!! by the time they finish this thing many of us will be in our graves!!!!!....Hey Frenchi!! S.T.O.P!!!!!!!!! enough is enough!!!!!!

With most of the updates, existing files are replaced by updated files, so the relative size increase overall is minimal

  2. I think I found out what the sim means about no assistance. Go to Options and Assistance, then set the Piloting and Navigating to 'Hard' instead of Easy, Medium or Custom. It turns off a lot of the little gadgets. I have not yet proved it works but I think it must be it.

It is kind of annoying for finding the grass runway with no tag to pop up for the airfield. No pavement, no tower, no lights. It was hard to see. I almost flew right over it until I checked the map on the MFD screen.

    Gee, just like real life!

  3. I can only make a couple of suggestions, based on real world experience with VOR navigation.

    1. Make sure the station you are tuning is in fact a VOR, VORTAC, or VOR/DME facility.

    2. Be sure the frequency you input to the nav radio is accurate and correct for the desired station.

    3. Once the frequency is verified corect, turn up the nav radio volume and listen to the morse code identifier...it should match what you see on the chart. If it doesn't match, your frequency is incorrect.

    4. Turn the OBS to match your current heading, the needle should center. Then turn the OBS to the desired radial and navigate to or from the station.

Hope this might shed some light!

  4. I appreciate each of your heartfelt responses, and also the amazing personal stories of your connections to flight. How fortunate that some of you got exposed to aviation at such young ages. If I do ever choose to learn how to real-fly, I'll be pushing retirement by then. It sounds like Stick and Rudder will have to be my first buy in any event.

Don't let retirement age scare you...my father-in-law got his PPL after he retired at age 70.

  5. It's not clear from the original post whether Apollo has done much VFR flying in small planes. If not, my suggestion is to first acquire experience in hand-flying -- forget AP and airliners for now -- and get to really enjoy what MSFS has to offer. There are many bush flights that are amazing, some breathtaking, and easy to fly. Apollo, if you are having problems even in small planes without AP, then there is a more basic issue to deal with, either in your system or your use of it.

    +1

The Airbus is not a trainer, and not the first airplane you want to try flying. Learn the basics as a real pilot does, and then move up.

  6. Odd. When I installed it, I selected the destination as my M: drive, and MSFS took it from there. It created the complex path structure to the Community folder that I have in my screenshot below. Did you modify your directory path after MSFS installation?

Nope. Specified it as the download site and that's where it went (I have the MS Store version, if that matters.) I did create the directory prior to installation too.
