  1. Hi, What you have to do to add the objects to a scenery will depend on the scenery tool be in used - I uses ADE.... a very basic guide - First, install and activate the library in the sim and then in start ADE. The next steps can be taken with or without a project being open... Select Tools > Library Object Manager...the File Object Manager window will open Click on the Add Folder button located bottom center right - file explorer will open... Navigate to location where the object lib is installed and click on the Scenery subfolder to highlight it (do not open the folder up) and then click on the Select Folder button located at bottom right of the explorer window... ADE will process the folder and will give a summery of its actions - click OK to close the summery window and then click on the Save button located at bottom right of the Object Manager window to save the objects to the ADE library.... To add a object to a project in ADE right click in the area of the project where you want to add the object, select Add > Library Object from the resulting menu - the Library Object window will open... Search/find the desired object to be added, click on it to highlight it and then click on the Add button - the item will then be added to the project....
  2. Hi, Short answer is YES and NO.... Some areas of the FSX.cfg MAY need changing - but the bigger issue will be the scenery.cfg file entries... The entries in the scenery.cfg file falls into two categories - default FSX and non default FSX....default FSX entries only require a simple truncated pathname whereas non default ones require the full path - as shown in these examples from my setup... Default areas: [Area.098] Title=1107 Base Local=Scenery\1107 Layer=98 Active=TRUE Required=FALSE [Area.099] Title=Africa Local=Scenery\AFRI Layer=99 Active=TRUE Required=FALSE Non default area: [Area.143] Layer=157 Local=D:\Addon Scenery\Object Libraries\EZ Scenery Library Title=EZ Scenery Library Required=FALSE Active=TRUE [Area.239] Layer=238 Local=D:\Addon Scenery\Airports - Basic\UK Title=: UK Required=FALSE Active=TRUE [Area.265] Layer=264 Local=D:\Addon Scenery\Airports - Detailed\EGXC RAF Coningsby Title=EGXC RAF Coningsby Required=FALSE Active=TRUE A better and easier solution would to permanently change the drive letter assigned to the DVD drive...this will have no impact on any install you have already made as no reference to the drive properties where the install was run from is recorded....
  3. Hi, =1 on Charlie's comment - it hard to provide the correct help unless the pertinent information is provided... That said, where individual files go is pretty easy to grasp.... Basically scenery based files - those with a ,bgl extension - must be placed in a 'Scenery' folder and all texture based files - .bmp, .dds. agn - must be placed in a 'texture' folder...these folders must be in a active folder that is known to the sim....
  4. Hi, Win 7 issue - By the term 'associated security program' I assume you mean Windows Security Essentials..??? The tools that come with that are very basic - I suggest that you download one of the numerous available freeware antivirus products that are out there, install it and then run the addon install - it probably only needs the internet connection for the initial product authentication/registration purposes and then won't need any further internet interaction unless you need to install an update to it.... Win 10 issue - what exactly is the issue...??? - there are plenty of workarounds/fixes out there to resolve Win10/FSX issues - many of them here at Flightsim.... Runaround issue....I have not ordered from Simshack nor Flyawaysimulations (which I believe is actually aligned with Simshack when it comes to the sale of products) but have from JustFlight and have had no issues with them - Justflight is not affiliated with the other two....
  5. A useful little tool that provides a number of useful features... It come in a number of editions for the various sims so make sure you get the right version - see HERE for basic info and download links
  6. Hi, Look at this thread HERE...basic but gives the relevant info and works
  7. Hi. the fact that you are using a FS2004 model in FSX may be the issue.... Whilst SOME FS2004 aircraft will work perfectly in FSX they are in the minority...even more so if the FS3004 model has been ported from a FS2002 model which can often be the case.... If you are looking for a FSX native V22 here are some options... Freeware - Model by Maryadi - it can be downloaded from HERE - note the download link is located at the right of the page under the file info area....also note that you don't need to register to download from the site but the download speed will be restricted... NOTE OF CAUTION - The description says it is for FSX with the Acceleration add on pack (also known as FSX Gold) and P3D - if you are not aware the SE- version of FSX is actually a digital repackaging of FSX Gold with a few small tweaks already made to the config file that would need to added manually if the DVD edition was used.... It also states that it has an auto-installer - this auto installer MAY NOT work correctly with SE as the folder structure is slightly different but you should be able to point it to the correct location.... Additional repaints for the model can be found here on Flightsim - use the authors name to search for them... Payware - Virtavia model - available at a number of on-line selling site but here is one LINK to give the product info... The link is for the SE dedicated version and of course you could also get the info for (but not buy it) on the Virtavia website.... There are also plenty of repaints available for it (more than the freeware model highlighted) here on Flightsim... I have not used the freeware version I have highlighted but have used the Virtavia version - it does the job I want, the model isn't to bad and it can be greatly enhanced by the use of a dedicated replacement panel/gauge package - RCBvca40.zip by Rob Barendregt which can be found here on Flightsim...
  8. Hi Christopher, Its not just changes to the aircraft.cfg file that can have consequences, changes to other .cfg files (such as the panel.cfg or texture.cfg files) can create problems - as can simply changing the name of main aircraft folder.... However, making more common and useful changes is relatively simple once you have a even a basic understanding of what each of entry means and how it interacts with the rest of the model - the key to doing so is very simple - ALWAYS make a backup copy of the original file(s) BEFORE making any changes....
  9. Hi, WRT contacting then author....looking at the various files he has uploaded he has always responded to anyone making a comment about the gauge using the Comment function located at the bottom left of each entry - so give that a try.... Two other options exist that may resolve the issue for you in some way.... Check out the following files which can be found here at flightsim b747-8f.zip by the same author - the details of the panel claims it is virtually the same as the -400 panel bar a few minor differences... defaultimate747.zip by Wheelie Bin Studios - it is based on the original Munro V3 panel with a few enhancements...
  10. Use full tip.... But are you aware that you don't need to be permanently connected to the internet to run FSX-SE (or indeed most Steam games) if using the game in single player mode....and this should ensure that when Windows update you don't get any issues... Use the search phrase running steam games offline to find out how.... You can also set Steam to notify you when product updates are available or to auto update when connected to the internet....
  11. Hi, You could try changing the info relating to the panel sizing... Look at the info from the example posted in post #19 - you will see a entry line titled size_mm=450,80 The same figures are quoted directly at the end of the gauage00= entry.... One entry relates to the holding 'window' size and the other relates to the actual gauge size itself Try changing these numbers to get the size you want - in the example the first figure (450) gives the screen width and the second (80) the depth/height....simply make sure that both entries have the same numbers.... The position= entry determines where on the screen the gauge popup is displayed and can be 0 - 8 with 0 being located at top left.... Note - this option will not allow you to adjust the size on the fly by dragging the mouse but at least you will be able to set it to a size that suits you....experimenting is the game here using small increments each time....
  12. Hi, It is still available here in the library... Simply hover your mouse over the File Libarry icon and select Advanced search from the resulting menu list.... You can then do a search using one of the following methods... Method 1 - Insert ONE of the following phrases into the this exact wording or phrase field and then press Start search... Deenethorpe ....or... Robert Swaim The first will bring up two entries and the second will bring up 3 entries... EDIT - glad you found it - i was obviously searching and typing my reply as you posted the update....strange you couldn't find in your search.... Method 2 - Use the File name: option and use deenetho.zip as the entry phrase
  13. Hi Paul, Can you be more specific as to the issue?... You state that you cannot install FSX - what is actually happening?... For example, is it failing to even start the install process...or the install process stalls,,,,or does it install but doesn't load when you attempt to start the sim... Each of these scenarios requires a different approach to resolving the issue so the more information the better....
  14. Hi, I haven't installed the scenery but I have taken a look at the download.... Have you read the readme file that is provided by the author - it lists a very extensive list of REQUIRED library objects that you need to download and install to get the best results from his work... Clearly you have one or more of them missing....
  15. Hi, Short answer is yes - with some caveats.... I run FSX on two Win 10 based rigs with no install issues and no subsequent running issues...as do many others... That said there are some users who had problems installing it, issues running it or, for some, never got their installs to work...they are in the minority and there could be a number of reasons as to why....from windows permissions, missing core system based libraries that FSX requires (such as C++ libraries), to corrupt DirectX files...the list is endless... However, there are many workarounds for issues found and I suggest you use the search function to get an ideal as to what issues you may face - use the search phrase FSX on Win 10 - it will list nearly 500 threads dealing with the subject... Something to bear in mind is what version you are intending to use....the DVD based versions can have more install issues than the digital Steam version...
  16. Hi Jorgen, the JF website loads items in a different order depending on how you select the listing... However, an easy way to find the free stuff is to use the search box located at centre top above the category buttons and enter the phrase free into the field - it will display all the free stuff... You don't need a JF account to download the free stuff - simply click on the item and once the page is loaded there is a download button to start the download...
  17. @ pomak249 Good info - all of them are also available on other websites including here at flightsim... For example the Coningsby scenery by UKMIL (author John Young) is here as egxc_x_1.zip...
  18. Hi, As dlfrenchmd' has pointed out MAIW (website HERE) has loads of scenery for both FSX and FS9....alas there is no scenery for BZN but there are AI models and flightplans for the aircraft based there.... A good rendition of BZN, albeit for FS9 and not upto date with regards to the current airfield layout, can be found here at flightsim.com - search for nbegvn06.zip... Although its for FS9 most FS9 scenery can be installed into FSX with little problem - just look out for any traffic files -see below... Most of the original MAIW packages were for FS9 they have issued converted models for FSX and now have an increasing number of FSX based packages, scenery etc... There is also a very comprehensive guide on the website that details how best to install FS9 stuff into FSX and what potential problems may occur... You can browse the MAIW website without logging in but to download stuff you will need to register - its free...
  19. Hi Mick, I don't use the product but as it is a test before you buy product you can download a 'demo' version that works with all FSDT addon airports and a few default FSX airports - that should allow you to test it with products you have listed... I suspect that most features will work with smaller aircraft as most of the vehicles modelled will have some relevance to smaller pax and GA aircraft - such as refuelling, follow me and tugs etc Or pose your question over on the dedicated FSDT forum...
  20. Hi Steve, Try downloading and running the FSX/FS9 Registry Repair Tool available from HERE - its the 4th item in the list...
  21. Hi Terry, Short answer is yes... There is plenty of info on this site with details on how to achieve it.... To find that info is simple - enter the phrase below into search window located at top right and then hit the enter key or click on the small icon located to the right of the search field to return the results.... Running FS2004 on Win 10 You can also use the same phrase on google to get more answers from other sites...
  22. Hi, A possible cause for this issue is, especially if you have done what you state and 'renamed' the folder to whatever the zip was, is that the change to the folder name has 'broken' the association between the REQUIRED model name as stipulated in a number of possible files included in the model folder... Within a standard model folder there are a number of sub folders that have config files (they have a .cfg extension) that tells FSX where the various elements are - the usual folders to find these .cfg files are the Panel, Sound and most important in this case, the individual texture folders... Renaming the model folder name WILL cause issues - from the problem you are experiencing to no sound and/or panels being, displayed... I suggest you look back at the unzipped contents and change the name of the folder(s) back to the original name they were... For example - if the zip file is named ABC.zip and when you unzip it the aircraft folder is named BBB rename the folder back to BBB and test...
  23. As this is an very old product I think the problem is related to an old anti piracy tool called SafeDisc that was commonly used by many software producers... It was know for a long time that the main system file for SafeDisc was actually vulnerable and in their wisdom when Microsoft developed Win 10 they chose to remove SafeDisc support - this was achieved by not providing a system file called SECDRV,sys...MS subsequently released patches for Win 7/8/XP/Vista that removed the file from those OSs..... If you use any of the older OSs there is a relatively simple fix that will allow you to restore SafeDisc support... However, the fix for Win 10 is more complicated.... Do a google search using the term How to enable Secdrv in xxx -(whereby xxx is replaced by the target OS) should give you plenty of info.... @agathosdaimon - In your case the likely reason why the demo installs but not the main program is because a demo version, often being freely distributed, normally does not require a serial key or any form of verification to run....
  24. Francios, Further to the suggestions so far make sure that FS is actually using the dedicated Nvidia GPU and not the onboard GPU chip often found on the motherboard - its usually an Intel chip.... Look at the image provide by Col in post #4 - check that the Device name entry is showing details of the Nvidia card...if not use the drop down menu option located to the right of the entry name to select it....
  25. Hi Col, Understand your thoughts about Win 10 - I also didn't like it a first but have now got use to it and, for the most part, once you have worked out the new icons and location of where things are its not to bad... A few quick Q's... What exactly do you mean when you say the PC won't open it?...I.E. Is the drive recognised and listed in Explorer as a drive but when you click on it it doesn't display the contents? Or does the drive not register in Explorer? What type of drive is it - I.E. a HDD or SSD...
