  1. Are you using FSX Boxed or Steam? If Boxed, you need to install Service Pack 1. If Steam, you need to install the legacy SimConnects. IIRC the installers are in the SDK folder, which is in the main FSX folder, I believe. Perhaps someone who has the Steam version will correct me. peace, the Bean
  2. If the software is going to add waypoints that do not actually exist, all bets are off. peace, the Bean
  3. Without having the actual charts to look at, selecting appropriate SIDs and STARs is a bit like Pin the Tail on the Donkey. Choosing from a list of waypoints without seeing them on a map is challenging at best. The route map that you posted simply does not provide enough info, all it shows is a selected route. One question, where did this "manual" waypoint come from, is that something you added? At a glance, that route does seem confusing until you look at the actual approach plate... Here you can plainly see how traffic would flow depending on the active runway and that for 27 you would leave MB395 on a 360 heading and not turn straight for the airport as shown in your route pic. At this point (if not before) you would most likely receive vectors to final, you are done with the STAR. As to why this STAR is set up the way that it is? Who knows? Terrain avoidance, noise abatement, traffic sequencing, any number of considerations could have gone into the design. Note that controllers may have the option to deviate from the STAR at their discretion. You may, for example, be told to proceed north from MB394 and eliminate some 25 miles of flying provided you can safely fly that heading. As is, it seems to me that the STAR will set you up for a loooong final. Maybe that is needed for the traffic volume into Mumbai. BTW, is it a coincidence that your route takes you almost directly over the SC NDB, which happens to be the LOM for the 27 ILS? DISCLAIMER- the charts I used are not current and were found, via a Google search, on a virtual airline website peace, the Bean
  4. FSX w/sp2 is already LargeAddressAware, that patch is not necessary. peace, the Bean
  5. Great minds think alike, Bob.

    You guessed correctly my friend.

  6. All due respect, you could test this yourself faster than you will receive a reply here. I suspect it does not matter what you set that flag to, FSX will overwrite the FSX.cfg as needed. Prove me wrong. :D peace, the Bean
  7. FS9 is limited to max 1024x1024 textures. Period. You might find some claims that FS9 is using larger textures, they are false claims. peace, the Bean
  8. To my knowledge Steam does not save any of your FSX files "in the cloud", everything should be on your computer. Try this... Go to... C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX ...or... C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX-SE ...if you have a side by side install of FSX Boxed and FSX Steam. That folder may be hidden. If so, go into Folder Options in the Control Panel and check "Show hidden files, folders and drives" on the View tab. When you get there, move the scenery.cfg from there to your Desktop and try starting the sim. peace, the Bean
  9. I am thrilled to see this resolved and confused as all get out as I do not have that folder. My default planes are in ...\Steam\steamapps\common\FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes I do have a ...\Steam\steamapps\common\FSX\DLC\ without the 379233. I do also have other folders in ...\DLC which hold components to addons I have purchased thru the Steam store. Steam, or Dovetail Games, must have changed the folder structure since I installed FSX:Steam. Guess someone over there decided we need to be kept on our toes. Learn something new they say. peace, the Bean
  10. As an FYI, you can link to a direct post... https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?299617-Repaint-in-FSX-Steam-Edition&p=1982809#post1982809 On the top, right corner of each post is the post number. That number is actually a link to that post. You can right-click on that number and copy the link location, then paste in a reply. peace, the Bean
  11. This may not apply to Win 10 (which might be different than Win 8) and you may have to change your Folder Options to "show hidden files", can you look for any FS related files in C:\Users\your user name\AppData\Local\VirtualStore Also, did you reinstall FSX:Steam or simply move the folders? peace, the Bean
  12. Did you try copying the panel.cfg to your Desktop, editing, saving and then copying back to the panel folder? Another symptom of suffering from permissions issues. Having FS in Program Files can cause all sorts of problems, which is why it has been recommended by many to not install it there. If you are having permissions problems, this is not a surprise. It won't. That will only happen once you get the FMC installed and working. Can you confirm you have the FMC working in the B738? peace, the Bean
  13. That would help insure you do not have any conflicts. Having ident=FMC_Panel is probably OK, I have not tested random text strings. That entry is probably seen by the sim as ident= In earlier posts there was reference to ident=502 502 is used by the EFIS gauge, so if you click on the EFIS in the VC you would normally get the EFIS popup. If you use ident=502 for the FMC, clicking on the EFIS in the VC will bring up the FMC. Have you verified this is the problem? As you have FSX:Steam, if I were you I would back up any changes I had made to FSX, uninstall FSX:Steam thru the Steam client, then reinstall to a location outside of the Program Files folder. peace, the Bean
  14. I see that the list in the sim menu is the default list and does not match what you have in your panel.cfg. This suggests that you might be suffering from Windows permission issues as a result of having the sim in the Program Files folder. Try this, copy the panel.cfg to your Desktop and edit. Save, then copy it back to your panel folder. Also, make sure you are not trying to edit that file with the sim running and that plane selected. peace, the Bean
  15. For the record, what you put in the [Window Titles] section is what shows up when you click on Instrument Panel on the Views menu. It will also be in the Title Bar if you undock the Window. This can be anything you want, windownn=Kitchen Sink will work. The ident= line is used to open the Windows with a SimIcon. There is limited options for what goes here and something like ident=FMC2_Panel is inappropriate. That entry will not hurt anything, it is not what that entry is intended for. The sim recognizes a certain range of numbers for that entry, and a specific set of phrases that can be used in lieu of numbers. This table shows the predefined codes, and the range for user defined codes... I have seen entries outside of that range that worked fine, I suspect that range was set to insure that future Microsoft releases would not interfere with user scripted SimIcons. For the ident= line you would drop the IDENT_. peace, the Bean
  16. This will get you what you want... peace, the Bean

  18. Bad idea, FSX will rebuild the scenery.cfg, FS9 will not. If you delete the FS9 scenery.cfg FS9 will not start. peace, the Bean
  19. It is actually a bit more complicated than some .cfg tweaks. Several known bugs were fixed, multiplayer was updated to the Steam system as the original FSX system no longer works. All of the .dll files were recompiled with newer VS libraries to help take advantage of newer hardware. FSX:SE also eliminates the product registration hassles that many have encountered with FSX:Boxed. Installing and reinstalling with Steam is basically a one-click task. More than just lipstick on a pig. Not hidden at all, if you now where to look, or how to search. Or how to read the registry. Acceleration is included in Gold, which is FSX Deluxe + Acceleration. As separate entities, SP1 and SP2 do not exist in FSX+Acceleration. Let's not confuse anyone into thinking you need to add the SPs before you add Acceleration. peace, the Bean
  20. The default key event is Shift+O (oh, not zero) to toggle Mouse Look on and off. With Mouse Look on, hitting the Spacebar will turn it off, by default. You could program a joystick or yoke button to the toggle function, I do not think there is a way to assign it to a mouse button. At least not within FSX. BTW, for those who rely on the hat switch to pan around, you should try Mouse Look some time. It changed FSX for me. Pans much faster, with the ability to zoom with the mouse wheel. Kind of a poor man's TrackIR. peace, the Bean
  21. You do nothing with the .DLL, leave it where it is. Do you have a DLL.XML at C:\Users\your name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX-SE? If not,... ... copy the DLL.XML from the SDK folder and paste it in C:\Users\your name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX-SE If you do,... Open the DLL.XML in the SDK folder with Notepad. Copy the following... ....and paste it in the DLL.XML located in C:\Users\your name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX-SE Paste it at the end of the file, just before... Check to see if the Traffic Toolbox shows up in the in-game menu. You may need to edit the line and replace the relative path with an absolute one. That is how mine is and I cannot remember if I had to change it. peace, the Bean
  22. FSX:SE comes with the appropriate traffictoolbox.dll in ...\FSX:SE\SDK\Environment Kit\Traffic Toolbox SDK. There is also a dll.xml that has what you need to copy to your working dll.xml which is located next to your FSX.cfg in C:\Users\your name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX-SE peace, the Bean
  23. The forum software has settings to change the number of posts displayed per page. So comments such as "x number of pages" mean nothing unless we all have the same settings, which obviously we do not. peace, the Bean
