  1. I want to say it has something to do with your fs9.cfg file. It's happened to me before but I forgot what I did to fix it. But.....

Find your cfg and copy it somewhere, or zip it for safekeeping. Then delete the original and start fs9. FS9 will create a new one and you will have to reset your screen res and all that stuff, but see if that works.

You probably know where the cfg is but if not, it would be something like this

    C:\Users\garyl\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FS9

  2. I just searched the library for Curtiss, 309 files showed up, including the great Commando.

Curtiss-Wright showed 7 files, but that's because most of the creators just referred to Curtiss alone.

Either way the Condor and Commando are both fantastic.

  3. I'm looking for a freeware aircraft to do commercial IFR flights with Virtual Cockpit. But I can't find anything interesting. Ideas?

What type of aircraft? Commercial covers a lot. Big jets like the 737/A320, turboprops?

VirtualCol has their ATRs for free and they have virtual cockpits. Remember this is FS2004, so as for freeware with VC, your options are somewhat limited with airliners.

There are some quality airliners for $10-$20(US) available.

  4. Can't say I'm too impressed by 2020. This seems more like a game company put it together to make a quick buck. No moving your head around anywhere in the cockpit, no three quarter view out front as you approach from an angle. I thought the graphics is what makes this so great. They don't look any better than the original FSX. We've lost thousands of airports. Once I get FSX back up and running I doubt I'll ever fly this again. I see nothing but limitations, whereas FSX is endlessly fluid (for free or low cost) and will never be used to its fullest capacity. Why didn't the Aces Team come up with their own and market it?

I respect your opinion, but I wonder sometimes what sim(game) people are looking at. I have FS9, FSX:Steam, and X-Plane11 installed. Every couple months I grab Gamepass and check in on 2020. Eventually I will just plop down the cash and get it, but for now I am enjoying the other 3 for various reasons. But, none of those reasons are that they look better. Nothing looks as good as 2020. Even in its default no internet connection state, which I have tried, it is better looking than the others although a tricked out XP11 looks pretty good.

I'm not sure why some folks are so annoyed(it seems to me)by the new sim. I think some just don't like the idea that they might be left behind. Which I don't get. When I fly in FS2004 it doesn't matter one bit if I'm the only one using it. End of the day I enjoyed the experience. I like the 757, 777, and 737-600, MSFS doesnt have them, yet. Well, the 600 is on the way and the 777 is the Captainsim(ugh).

Nothing wrong with liking old stuff. My desktop is covered with shortcuts to games from GOG. But when something new comes along like MSFS, if you can run it, enjoy it. All the bickering is kinda goofy anyway. Game/Sim? When I use GTA3, it's not a game, its a 'Thug Simulator". Many of us, if not the majority(not sure of the demographic)are adults, sitting at a desk playing pretend plane fly guy. People know where to find us and we generally stay out of trouble. Enjoy.

  5. From the library here, you only need the main file and SP3

    fly74710.zip

    IFLY_SP3.ZIP

I just installed those and it ran fine. SP3 actually contains everything you need as far as updates. The files from the other site may be messing it up.

I do remember doing it like you did once and it didn't work right. I had lost all my FS9 files and was redownloading stuff and for whatever reason grabbed all the updates as opposed to just the main file and SP3.

  6. I do, but only have my eye on a couple more, mainly the CLS DC10. Recently bought the JustFlight Seneca and the PSS/Black Box 757.
  7. I've always liked deep diving VA websites, this one is very straight forward and easy to navigate. Not cluttered or overly fancy. Too bad it's not still around, I would be tempted to join. Not sure I ever joined a VA, can't remember having done so.

As impressed as I am by the big VAs, I would be more drawn to a small one with a very small fleet.

Thanks for bringing this one up, can't remember ever seeing it.

  8. I thought there was an issue with the CS 757, rocking side to side when you engage AP, but the BB(PSS)757 does the same, so I have narrowed it down to me not understanding how to operate the 757 yet. Most of my Google deep dive has brought up the issue in FSX and in regards to FSUIPC, but the discussions usually went nowhere.

I was curious if anyone who has experience with the 757 knows what I am missing, or doing wrong that would cause it.

And yes, I am going thru the documentation for both again.
