  1. Only 323 downloads in a few days from something released a decade or more ago.

    I guess FS2004 is dead eh? :D

That's in only two days, and it's a lot more than what I've got for a repaint... years after its release! Maybe the other ones still had the VOZ installers? :p

  2. Thanks Sascha, I will check... in 10 days that I'll be back from visiting my family. Which terrain.cfg are you using? The one that came default with FS9?

I forgot to say that I changed from Howard's TNW2017 to EVO 2018. I think TNW2017 had its own terrain.cfg file.

  3. Thanks, I'll sift it over the weekend!

Thanks! Looking forward to your findings!

Maybe a rundown of every step you've taken to install the EVO textures. As Sascha says, its a pretty simple process.

True, there should be no room for error. Anyway, this is what I did:

    1. Disable my antivirus (just in case).

    2. Unzipped all the contents of the included Zip files; each in its own folder.

    3. Copied the contents of fs9_texture.zip into FS9\Texture.

    4. Copied the contents of fs9_scenery_world_texture_standard.zip into FS9\Scenery\World\Texture (had to do so in order to get the AGN files).

    5. Copied the contents of fs9_scenery_world_texture_hires.zip into FS9\Scenery\World\Texture.

    6. Copied the default.xml from fs9_autogen.zip into FS9\Autogen.

    7. Copied FS9EVO_lights.BGL into FS9\Scenery\Generic\Scenery.

    8. Rebooted and reenabled antivirus.

    9. Fired up FS9 and loaded a night flight in KSEA (where I just have an AFCAD), just for checking.

    10. Banged my head against the wall because I can't still see any night lights...

Apart from Step 10, I can't find what did I do wrong...

  4. Still nothing. This is what I did:

    - Deleted the Russian lights BGL

    - Installed your BGL in the same folder (FS9\Scenery\Generic\Scenery)

    - Reinstalled the lite autogen (default.xml) and halo.bmp files.

    I still have TERRAIN_USE_VECTOR_OBJECTS=0 in FS9.cfg. Should I change it to 1?

  5. I tried in both KSEA and KSFO, still no lights.

    the included bgl

The only BGL I've seen in Evo is FS9_lib.bgl, which I had to download from here:

    http://www.avsimrus.com/f/fs2004-effects-and-addons-46/animated-evening-and-night-highway-34218.html

Is this one or should have been another one? For your reference, I'm using the high resolution textures, and no Ultimate Terrain at all. OSM (either Europe or South America) have no lights at all.

  6. Hm, could be there are some tropical textures without light annotations I might have missed. Do you get more lights in Europe and US cities?

Let me try after I return from work. Any special places you would like me to check?

Maybe I've been drinking too much red wine, but I don't see ANY EVO lights in your screenies.

Well, I had a Malbec last night. But even before that, I was not seeing any lights already hahaha

  7. Hi Luis, could you deactivate OSM SA and see what happens? Thank you!

Not that much: still not getting as many lights as expected:

    Not even without OSM.jpg

Hmm, just tried this and got a CTD, probably because my FS computer can't handle so many default objects at a time. The lights are much easier on fps than default roadsigns etc. which I edited out of my EVO autogen xml.

I added first the light autogen XML; but after seeing almost nothing; I switched to the heavy one. Still can't see what I was hoping. Setting in the CFG file TERRAIN_USE_VECTOR_OBJECTS as 0 or 1 does not do any difference either :(

  8. Hi Sascha, I've installed your 2018 version of FS9Evo. However, taking off from SABE, I see less than 10 lights in all my visual field. It's strange, since SABE is basically next to downtown Buenos Aires; there should be something like your screenshots. Instead; I'm getting this:

    Not enough lights.jpg

For your reference, the only scenery addons I'm using there are mesh and the OSM Southamerica addon (which I co-developed). I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, but I can't find what :(

  9. Since it's a laptop, I'll try first disabling Turbo Boost. Yes, it sounds counterintuitive, but (as NickN's Bible says) set up your computer and sim, and after having it stable and smooth, overclock it (or enable back Turbo Boost). You'll save some head banging...

I like your CPU; it should do fine, or at least a lot better than my laptop (i5-7200U, 6 GB RAM, GeForce 940MX).
