  1. I've been watching too many YouTube videos that have thoroughly confused me with all of the timings and latency, overclocking, etc. I do have four DIMM slots, 2x8 installed. So, it sounds like I just need to pop out the 8GB sticks and snap in the 2x16 sticks, and fire up the sim and go? Hopefully :D Thanks!
  2. I recently purchased the following rig for P3D and then MSFS2020 when it comes out. As you will see, my system only has 16 GB memory. I'm wanting to upgrade now to 32 GB in anticipation of the Microsoft release. I don't know much about over clocking memory or all of the other lingo, but if I understand right, I can't just snap my memory out and snap the new memory in and go fly. Which is actually what I did with my old computer when I added memory to it. Also, my system has been overclocked to 5.2 GHz. Does anyone have suggestions on what I need to do as far as getting the right memory and installing it correctly? I don't think I want to mess with RGB either. I just want it to run smooth. 3. Appreciate the comments. I read today that Active Sky will be releasing P3D v5 in the next few days, so I'm going to wait on it. I'm curious to see what they can add to TrueSky besides a weather engine. So far, I'm happy with the default clouds in v5.
  4. I just recently deleted P3D v4 and installed v5. I had Rex Skyforce and Active Sky for v4. Just wondering if anybody has tried out the first v5 offering by Pilot's? I'm wondering what Active Sky can do with TrueSky besides adding a weather engine, which is all Pilot's does. Can they improve anymore on the clouds? Rex? I'm ready to get started with "real weather" using one of these add-ons. But, maybe I need to exercise patience and see what AS and REX come out with, hopefully soon. Any thoughts out there?
  5. I've searched for a solution to this problem and I've seen where some in the past have had the same problem with FSX, but could not find a fix. The force feedback is on and works until you launch P3D v5, then the joystick just goes limp and the stick does not return to the center. I've checked and unchecked all of the boxes in the options, still the same, as well as trying the calibrations. I think it is flight surfaces I checked on as well as forceback and the plane was unflyable as the joystick forces were all over the place. Any ideas? Thank you
  6. I'm sticking with v4.5, spending extra money on hardware only, and waiting to see how MSFS2020 turns out.
  7. The media has blown it out of proportion. How many have died from the flu? The main thing people need to remember is keep spending your dollars. Support the flightsim community and buy some addons. You don't even have to get out and interact with anyone. The worst thing that could happen now is if people start stuffing money under the mattress as if the apocalypse is going down. We've got to regroup and get on with life.
  8. Has anybody heard a timeframe on the release date? I don't know how long Alpha and Beta testing take. Just anxious like everybody else to try it out.
  9. Stated another way, use the textures from Rex Sky Force and Active Sky for your weather engine. I also use Envtex and Envshade and have gorgeous skies.
  10. I'm currently looking at the following barebones computer and wondering if it will work well with all of the main add-ons: https://www.portatech.com/products/product.cshtml?id=57374&o=92334 As you will notice, i think I'm going to choose the i7-8700. It doesn't look like I would gain much more performance with an 8700k, and it looks like it runs hotter. I also don't know how to overclock nor do I really want to. For my GPU, I want to get the Geforce GTX1660 - 6 GB. Ram, I will probably go with 16 GB - DDR4-2666. I already have a 500 GB SSD. Will I be happy running P3D 4.5 w/ add-ons? I'm also not sure which power supply I need. Any comments, much appeciated!
  11. If you don't find an ATC program you like, which I still haven't, then EditVoicepak is a good substitute. It allows you to speed up the ATC voices (more realistic) and add your own modifications. You can find further information at http://www.editvoicepak.com. It's also a try before you buy program.
