  1. I wanted RE for the realism, as a real world pilot, I understand how lacking FS is in this aspect. I want my engine to run rough, but I would also like to have it quit, because if it cant quit, I always have my mind saying "it doesnt matter, it cant quit anyway". I will continue to use RE as it does make it much more realistic and forces me to fly by the book, as I do anyways :D .

I will check the panel.cfg and see if those idiots at FSD made a gauge that simulates the realism or not and get back to you. Thanks as always!

  2. Well Gunter, you nailed it! Its that crappy FSD programming that wont allow it to fail. I say crappy, because even there damage modeling doesnt work, its like they have no clue what they're doing over there. It cant find my aircraft folder or FS9 folder, even tho you tell it exactly where its at. It also doesnt remember any flight time in the plane. What a waste...

Thanks for the help tho, appreciate it much!

  3. Sorry about the late reply, been waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too busy to test this out. Plane is the FSD Piper Navajo V2(Payware). Using RE 1.2. Only did changed in the Parameters XML file. Will test the "RE1_EngineMPRPMLimitations_EngineRoughnessFailure _v12.xml" and "RE1_Parameters_v12.xml" trick sometime in the next few days and let you know how it goes.

    Thanks a bunch!

  4. Here was my findings. Changing the refresh rate didnt seem to do too much, maybe a bit less power. The time to fail and % of TTF trick seemed to mess something up. Now when my engine fails via the MP/RPM Limitations, the "Power Limitations" status flashes yellow but never starts a countdown.

It did however, fail my left engine(although it never showed the failure under the power limitations status), but it only completely stopped the engine once I was on the ground and stationary.

  5. Thanks Gunter. Pretty much on the Real Engine status panel, it says "failed" when I hover over "MR RPM LIMITATIONS". But, the engine is still running, rough though, thats for sure. I hovered over the Power Limitations and the TTF was counting down while running rough. It then went to a negative time and I checked the FS failures menu and it had failed my left engine. However, the engine was still running and producing power, not sure why, probably something specifically with this airplane.

Is there a way to change the "rough running" time from 2 mins down to maybe 20 seconds? Im sure its in the XML code somewhere. Also, if your engine DOES begin to run rough(besides the mixture being set incorrectly), is there any way to get the engine back to its normal operating performance without having to do the "Reset all" on the status panel? I doubt there is, which actually makes it more realistic, which is what i'm all about!

Hope to hear from you soon!

  6. Hi,

the gauge is set to first result in the engine running rough when damaged, and if it is pushed further (i.e. if you don't reduce power) it will finally fail.

Just leave at full power to see whether it will finally fail (should take less than 1-2 minutes at full power between moment of initial running rough and engine failure while in level flight). If it does not ultimately fail, please report back with further information on the circumstances.

  7. Hey Teson, stumbled upon your Real Engine program today! I must say, i've looked for something like this for a long time, good work! Only thing im having an issue with is while I was testing the failures, the engine doesnt really "fail". It is still producing power and is still running, obviously not at full power, but the engine should fail completely. It is showing the smoke effects out of the engine(which are nice, btw!), but I think the engine should completely shut off. Is this correct or do I have a setting wrong somewhere? Thanks!
