  1. At the risk of redundancy, but sure someone will recheck this thread in the future, I just reinstalled FSX Gold with Acceleration fine with the following step by step method previously noted. Feel free to share.

    FSX REINSTALLATION of Gold Edition/ Acceleration discs out of the box with Product Keys.

    1. CLEAN UNINSTALL FSX.

                    a. UNINSTALL Acceleration from the Apps/uninstall on computer

                    b. UNINSTALL FSX from computer apps or from the disc 1.

                    c. CLOSE/REOPEN Program Uninstall and make sure all FSX components are gone.

                    d. Go to C:\Program Files (86x)\Microsoft Games\ Microsoft Flight Simulator and delete this folder or whatever drive you had it on.

                    e. Go to C:\Users\YOUR NAME and delete any fsx material

    BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO REINSTALL FSX:

    2. Reset the license key   (Cause of Error 1603)

                    a. Make sure MSKB928080 is installed to 😄 drive root folder. You can download it from the web.

                    b. Run the following as administrator

                    b. Open cmd prompt from start menu and "run as administrator"

                    c. Type  cd C:\  then hit enter

                    d. Type cd MicrosoftKB928080 and  hit enter

                    e. Type resetsldl -All  and hit enter.NOTE: there is a space between ldl and -

                    Should get message that success in token store reset.

    3. Reset Windows Installer  (Cause of Error 1722)

                    a.        Click Start, Click Run and type “Services.msc” (without quotes) and press Enter.

                    b.       Double-click Windows Installer.

                    c.        Set the Startup type of Windows Installer to Manual.

                    d.       Click Start to start the service. Note down the error message if any. Click OK.

    ((Method 2 [I never had to use this]: Reregister the Windows Installer. Follow these steps for the same.

                    a.           Quit all Windows programs.

                    b.           Click Start, All Programs, Accessories and click Run. Type “msiexec /unregister” (without quotes) in the Open box, and then click OK.

                    c.           Click Start, All Programs, Accessories and click Run. Type “msiexec /regserver” (without quotes) in the Open box, and then click OK. Restart your computer.  ))

    3. Install FSX to D:\FSX (a NEW folder completely) where D=whatever drive you will use. Create the new folder. DON"T install to Program x86 folder.

                    Place CD in drive and open\run the setup as Administrator

                    After Disc 2 complete, start FSX. I initiated the default flight to make sure it worked.

    4. Close FSX and REBOOTcomputer

    5. Go to FSX folder you just installed, right click Properties/ security and allow all permissions. I included the "Users" category.

    6. REBOOT computer

    7. Open as Administrator

    8. In START \RUN\Services.msc\Windows Installer  Start it again if not running (as above)

    9. Install FSX Acceleration. It already contains SP1 and SP2 so don't have to download/ install those

    10. ERROR CODE 1-80004005 comes up on starting FSX. Yes to online query, it starts up, but only gives you the trial version.

    To Fix, you have to change the registry.

    c. Find Upperfilters listed under it, and check its value, if its 0 change it to PartMgr and click OK. Mine said partmgr (lower case) so I switched it to PartMgr

    d. Restart FSX. Should get Activation screen. Choose "Activate Now" and enter Product Key.

    Close, reboot, and restart FSX to be safe.

  3. Reinstalling FSX boxed edition in Windows 10 is difficult, laborious, but possible. I published a document on it that formerly was in the "sticky" section of the forums, but it may have disappeared with the new website. Let me know if you would like it republished here. (Don't want to add a bunch of stuff people found less than useful).

  4. If all else fails, I would try the FAIB model with a good A320 panel and make adjustments to the aircraft.cfg flight dynamics using a known quantity (a good A320 .cfg) and Bob Chicolo's tutorial on tweaking flight dynamics (bobsflightdynamicsrevised.zip) . Time consuming? Very. Tedious? You bet. Interesting and informative? Absolutely. I'm trying this on the UKMIL C-17 trying to update it to real world specs. I guess bottom line here is how bad do you want to save money? For me I love learning more about FSX (since I don't have reliable internet for the more advanced MS stuff).

  5. Well, here is a work around that is probably way off base and will get the derisional jeers. But...

    In ADE there is a landclass for Ice and Glacial Ice that looks like snow. You could fly to the mountain, use ADE to make a ground poly landclass of ice on the area you want,

    and see what it looks like. You may need to put it in a separate airport folder to turn off/ on, but if you want snow year round, just put it in the Addon scenery/ scenery folder.

    Not sure if you would need to create a "fake" airport there to make it work. You would, unless there is a closeby airport.

  6. Some aircraft are NOT coded correctly for exits and jetways. First, at your terminal of interest, use the default 737 or A321 at a gate, then try CTRL+J which should activate the jetway. You MUST be parked exactly in the parking spot. If it works, the problem is your aircraft.

    What aircraft are you using? Most 3rd party airliners are built with workable doors and such. Pick a default aircraft close to what you are using. For example, if you are using a 3rd party 737, use the default 737. If an airbus, use the default A321. A380 or 747? Use the default 747. Open the default aircraft.cfg and scroll down to the entry starting with [exits]. Copy/paste the default entry into your aircraft.cfg. (ALWAYS MAKE A COPY BEFORE DOING ANYTHING TO THE .CFG!!!). Remove any previous exits entry or just put a // in front of the [exits] entry. The default 737 entry looks like this:

    [exits]
    number_of_exits = 2
    exit.0 = 0.4,  36.6, -5.0,  3.0, 0   //openclose rate percent per second, longitudinal, lateral, vertical positions from datum (feet), type (0=Main 1=Cargo 2=Emergency)
    exit.1 = 0.4, -38.5,  4.5, -3.0, 1   //openclose rate percent per second, longitudinal, lateral, vertical positions from datum (feet), type (0=Main 1=Cargo 2=Emergency)
    exit.2 = 0.4,  33.5,  3.5, -4.0, 2   //openclose rate percent per second, longitudinal, lateral, vertical positions from datum (feet), type (0=Main 1=Cargo 2=Emergency)

    Save. You should now have a working jetway and exits. If not, the model may not have been built with a working door.

    Let me know if further help needed. SPECIFY what exact aircraft you are concerned about. Sometimes the problem is the RATE of door opening is too slow. There are door codes in forums for POSKY, HJG, and others that can be helpful.

  7. I'd just like to say as a scenery designer, the new upload system is terrific. Simple, quick, and efficient. I really like the progress bar since my uploads tend to take a while and with the old system, you didn't know if it was still working or not. I have not had major problems with downloading or finding stuff. My impression is it is improving by leaps and bounds every day, so I believe the feedback is working.  Constructive feedback is ALWAYS the best. I really value the time and effort you guys put in.
