  1. I have used fs realwx lite for many years with great success, but thought I would give realwx pro a try. I installed the application, but it does not run satisfactorily; it starts and downloads the correct data for the correct location quickly, and after some delay it will sometimes load the weather correctly into fs9. But, when it does so, after flying for perhaps 20 minutes, the weather in fs9 goes clear/calm, and there seems to be no way to keep it current with my location. Is there a secret I'm missing?

  2. I'm getting tired of these problems that start out of nowhere with no apparent cause...

Yesterday both FSrealwx lite and FSmetar failed to load the weather. FSrealwx lite starts, and then stalls with the message 'waiting for FS'. It does load the correct location from fs9, but no more. FSmetar gives the error 'metars download failed'.

My internet connection is good, and FSUIPC appears to be fine. Apart from weather, fs9 works well. I have not changed anything since it worked on Tuesday.

Same thing happens with different aircraft and at different airports. Since both weather applications fail, I presume it is an issue with the sim, not the weather.

Any suggestions how to fix this???

    Thanks!

  3. Since no one else mentioned it, here's my advice...

ALWAYS back up any changes that you make to a *.cfg file. Two ways to do it easily:

    1. Copy the original file, and paste it back in the same folder. Windows will give it a 'copy' name.

    2. When editing the file, anything after "//" is ignored by the program. You can copy an entire line, paste it in below the original, and prefix one with "//". Edit the other. Or, you can edit the value of one parameter and keep the prior value after //.

  4. Ok, so the gameux rename fixed the double start issue. It did not affect windows games. Setting compatibility from the fs9 icon to my OS (Windows 7) seems to have solved the performance issues associated with rundll32. Hooray! I may be all well now. Thanks to everyone on this forum.

My question now, just a matter of curiosity since I think all my problems are solved, is; what happened? I did not change anything I know of. Microsoft's stupid updates are turned off. So what changed???

  5. I tried the solution from jgf, to rename the gameux. Could not do it manually, but the script worked exactly as suggested. That solved the double start issue. Thanks, jgf!!!! It does not solve the rundll32.exe problem; running fs9 still causes rundll32 to go berserk and consume all CPU and memory. So, I'm still looking for a solution to that.

Thanks to everyone for your help! This forum is a lifesaver! Again!!!!!!

  6. I tried the registry edit suggested by tiger1962, no particular problems, but no success either. Same problem as before; fs9 starts on the second click and causes rundll32.exe to go nuts and overwhelm CPU and memory. I'll keep looking for solution...

  7. Remarkable...I came to the forum to search for prior posts on a new problem associated with rundll32.exe hogging CPU and slowing the internet. First thing I see is this thread, apparently the exact same thing!

I'm terrified of trying to edit the registry, but will give it a shot tonight when I get home.

  8. I believe all the HJG aircraft have a very realistic panel available...not an alias to MS default, and much more complicated.

I have the Convair 880, DC-8-50 and DC-9-30. I also have my sim defaulted to load aircraft with everything off, so I must do a complete startup.

I found, for all three aircraft, that just using experience and intuition, it's not possible to start these aircraft. I must use a user's manual that I found via google search.

For example, the CV880 and DC-8 must have bleed air supplied by a ground cart first before starting the first engine; remaining engines can be started by cross-bleed. It's absolutely realistic, but not something I could figure out on my own.

Please don't misunderstand. I really love the HJG models and enjoy them. I do like the realism of the panel and associated procedures. I was just commenting that use of the manual is essential.

  9. One additional comment; I also have used the HJG airplanes and like them very much. The panels, though, contain many not-obvious details and are problematic unless you follow the user manual, which can be difficult to find. I usually do a google search for it.
