I would suspect either a corrupt file in the scenery or a major conflict with some other installed scenery (radio/navaids are often the issue - two on the same frequency whose coverage areas overlap).

Completely remove the scenery, download it again (from a different source if possible), and reinstall. If the problem persists ...look for a different UUEE (much easier than trying to fix this scenery or track down a conflict).

I fear this may be the best advice.

It's a texture call issue I suspect.

I've been working on this one with no success.

Luckily I only splashed 11 Euro on it.

Hello,

I have two FS2004 installations .. and each have many addons for Russia sceneries (folders in Addon Scenery and files in the main scenery and main texture FS2004 folders)

In one of the install .. the DS UUEE work fine :)

In the other ... the scenery stop loading at a certain point :(

If I use the freeware UUEE (very good BTW) I have no problems

So for you it must be same problem ... a files conflict .... AFAIK

You definitely have either a scenery conflict or possibly a faulty AI aircraft in that area. Turn off the AI and see if you still have CTDs. Disable all add-on scenery in that area and see if a flight works; if so, add the scenery back one at a time, trying a flight each time, til you isolate the problem. If the sim still crashes with no AI and no add-on scenery you may have a corrupt default file, try copying the scenery from the FS9 CD to your install (you may later have to reinstall any add-ons if they replace any of these files).

Sorry about your bad developer experience. They should not be selling if they have no idea how to fix it.

Hello,

Sorry about your bad developer experience. They should not be selling if they have no idea how to fix it.

Well it's a very general comment

Nobody can release a scenery with no a potential conflict with other sceneries ...

Even big softwares developers can't avoid some conflicts with other softwares and can't also solve the problems ...

I'm sure the developer can fix the problem if the customer send him his complete FS2004 installation :)

The developer have not to fix his product (as working fine on a default FS2004 installation) but it's to the customer to find what addon already installed cause the problem IMHO

Russian freeware is of much higher quality and is very stable. This developer has done a major screwup with the release of this scenery and even deletes comments by his angry customers on his forum.

Thats a very polish mentality and common with them, unfortunately.

But he should at least be willing to try.

Has it been definitely established that this is a developer problem? Seems to me, from reading this thread, that it's not clear where the problem lies so why put the responsibility on Drz's doorstep?

Hello,

Has it been definitely established that this is a developer problem?

This scenery give no problems if installed in a clean FS2004

If installed in another environment (FS2004 and addon's) the results can vary

The author is not able to test compatibility of his product with all existing addon's !! http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/k/dontknow.gif

It's the user to find (if possible) a solution if it's a incompatibility problem with the addon's already present in his sim installation ...

It's made sens ..... IMHO

If you upload a file - whether scenery, aircraft, utility, or whatever - and someone contacts you that it doesn't work on their system, are you going to ignore them? Tell them "tough s**t"? Or at least offer some suggestions to get it working?

No one is saying it's the developer's fault, only that he should be willing to help.

Stan has my sympathy, as he has said he has no idea what the problem might be.

I believe this was developed by someone else.

So what more can he do, other than refer it to the original author, who really should have a go at figuring this one out.

The several hundred other free- and payware packages on my HDD do not show this behaviour!

Arguing that you are not able to test compatibility of his product with all existing addons, is not valid in this case, as it appears to be a very widespread problem.

You cannot expect your addon product to run in isolation, if done in accordance with the MS SDK there should be no issues.

A troubleshooting database would help to identify who's having problems running what.

Many other developers have solved problems with their addons, with the help of the user community.

OK, so I will make a practical suggestion to try and solve this problem. The OP should arrange with Drz to send his PC over to them so that they can see what he has installed and then work out if there is any conflict with another product or file. Once that is established then it can be decided whether it is Drz's duty to rectify the problem or the provider of the "other" addon or file.

Or maybe a better solution in the interest of customer relations would be to refund the money the OP has paid to Drz.

When I say "the original author" I am referring to the guy who produced the scenery.

And yes the OP probably is due a refund.

But FS2004 is in a difficult position; on the one hand we are grateful for any new addons, on the other we do want good stuff that works.

The danger is if we alienate a developer instead of helping to identify and fix problems, they might decide to chuck it in and go develop for stuff they understand, like P3D maybe.

I'm not about to claim back the 11 Euro I dropped on this, I'd much rather see a fix.

WingZ - I agree with what you say and I am not without sympathy in this matter.

A couple of months ago I bought an add on which gave me problems once I had installed it. When I tried to get help I was told to uninstall the product, then read the manual before reinstalling - and do the reinstall slowly and properly. The only thing that I had any control over in the installation was confirming where FS9 was installed, so what was meant by doing it properly I'm still not sure about!

Anyway, I quickly realised that I wasn't going to get very far with sorting my problem out so decided against beating the developer or myself up about it. I just wrote off what I had paid and made a big mental note not to buy from said developer again.

There is nothing about FS9 that, for me, is mission critical in life!
