Jim Robinson
When you select "add map from background" you can draw a red box around the part you want. EDIT: I see you found the red box on closer inspection. I dunno? Try selecting a higher zoom level?
gdr1944
I'm at 56x40 at Zoom=17 Number of tiles before red box edit 2240 Number of tiles after drawing red box 910 The Select menu only gives me only choice (Select all maps) Although only my selection is in the window when I compile the original 2240 tiles are compiled. When i drop the blg into my Addon Scenery /scenery folder the original 2240 are shown. StringBean
I think you are getting hung up here- https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?250762-How-to-create-photoreal-scenery-for-FSX&p=1689969#post1689969 I suspect you are not getting all of the tiles on the first try ( I never do) and are not doing the Cancel-F1-F1-add map from background shuffle. Reread that post and keep an eye on the messages SBuilderX gives you. peace, the Bean WWOD---What Would Opa Do? Farewell, my freind (sp) Never argue with idiots. gdr1944
I read the whole link again and did not see anything about Cancel-F1-F1 Were is Cancel-F1-F1-add map from background shuffle? Because that is what holding me up. Can't find anything about F1-F1 in help file I don't understand background shuffle. StringBean
You "draw a square over the island", then set zoom and click "OK". If you are loading a big bunch of tiles SBuilderX will tell you that you have to do it again. After the counter in the bottom left corner stops counting down the tiles you click on "Cancel". Then you have to hide the background (F1). Next you have to "show the background" again, (F1). After that you have to do the whole "add map from background" again so SBuilderX can finish downloading the tiles. This process is a little dance I call the Cancel-F1-F1-Add map from background shuffle, like a dance. Sorry if I confused you. peace, the Bean OK, OK, I looked at the tutorial again and noticed something. I am using the 64 bit version of SBuilderX and it has F1 as a shortcut to toggle the View > Show Background The screenshots in the tutorial do not have that, so I wonder if the 32 bit version does not have it. If you have the 32 bit version then I can understand why the F1 reference made no sense to you. I am Sorry. WWOD---What Would Opa Do? Farewell, my freind (sp) Never argue with idiots. gdr1944
You "draw a square over the (MY Airport)", then set zoom and click "OK" Ok did that, Only loading 972 tiles(red square) If you are loading a big bunch of tiles SBuilderX will tell you that you have to do it again. Did not tell me to do it again....and Auto displays main window with my 972 tile selection. I do the 1st F1 displays 4928 tiles with my 972 tiles outlined in black. I do the 2nd F1 displays just my 972 tiles Add map from background grayed out. So I Select "all maps" (because I have to select something before it will compile) then compile..same result all 4928 tiles not 972 Army Engineer Veteran..Busted for insubordination Nam-1966
StringBean
This does not make any sense, so let's go back to some basics. Verify that you have no left over files from earlier attempts in any active scenery folder. Check your SBuilderX project properties and verify the folder that the .bgl files get compiled to. Verify that there are no bgl. files in that folder, if there are some, move them someplace else temporarily. In SBuilderX press F1 so there is no background showing, only your map. The background fills the whole screen, your map is only what you selected to download. Using the select tool, the pointer that looks like an arrow, draw a rectangle around your map. Do not use the menu to Select all Maps. Now click on the compile button, the green button with a right facing arrow on it. The box should pop up with only a check in "Photo Scenery". Remember to add a check to "Copy BGL files to BGL folder" and compile. Tip: in your FSX SDK\Environment Kit\Terrain SDK is TmfViewer.exe. Start it, then drag your photo .bgl file and drop it on the TmfViewer Window. You will see what is in that file without the need to start the sim. peace, the Bean WWOD---What Would Opa Do? gdr1944
Whew....That was it...!!! Verify that you have no left over files from earlier attempts in any active scenery folder. Tip: in your FSX SDK\Environment Kit\Terrain SDK is TmfViewer.exe. By checking time stamp of recently scenery installed bgl's I discovered I mislabeled a previous and errored airport.bgl of same. Next step is edit out more of my bgl (BMP) Found a U-Tube and I have Paint Shop Pro v8.5 I know about masks and layers Hope you still have some hair left. Thanks again for your help.
