ryanb901
Hi All, Last year I built from scratch a new computer for FSX and gaming in general I was on a budget but still was able to build a fairly decent system. I now have a bit of extra money this month and am looking at probably upgrading something within the computer to try and boost frames and stuff. The specs are these: CPU: i5 4690K OC to 4.4 GPU: GTX 660 2gb RAM: 8GB PSU: Corsair Builder Series CXM 600W 120gb SSD with FSX 1TB HD with Windows and everything else! I'm looking at either upgrading the CPU, GPU or RAM. I have around £300 to play with so I can't go too wild :p The only other thing I'm looking at possibly upgrading is my monitor which is only 1440x900 and I would like to at some point go 1080p. So if people think the system is pretty much okay at the moment, I may look at upgrading the Monitor first. Thoughts and opinions would be great Cheers Ryan
E-Buzz
Hi Ryan, I have a similar PC set up except for the video card - radeon 6950 2gb. If you are fairly happy with your FSX performance (I know, that is a relative term - if you're like me, you always want MORE!), I would go with upgrading your monitor first and enjoy higher resolution. It's also the easier (physically) upgrade. I went from a single 20" to 3 x 27" monitors (eyefinity) and it was amazing! I've since switched to a 39" LED TV for the VC and a 27" monitor for gauges. Never been happier (until I get 2 other 39" TVs and hook them all up with eyefinity, or some projectors!)! Good luck! Zachiii
Ryan, Our rigs are quite similar. Go for the monitor, and check out the PMDG aircraft and Radar Contact 4 if you want more realism. zach Digital Storm, Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit, Intel i5 4690k (OC 4.5 GHz) Dell U2713HM & Dell 2405 PTW, ASRock Z97, 500GB Samsung 850 EVO, UT2 8GB DDR3 SP, NVIDA GeForce GTX 970, Nvidia Inspector, RC4, Opus wx, FSX Gold, GEX, UTX, REX (4, Soft, Airports), FS Global 2008, PMDG 737 & J41
