CXA001
Ten years ago, we started the Dangerous Airports series of challenges where we flew 21 different routes into airports that require more than just your average pilot skill. Most people would not want to be a passenger, let alone a pilot in command for some of these airports, having to weave and twist tens of thousands of pounds of flying aluminum around mountains into valleys, with winds and weather bouncing the aircraft. Over the next few months, we are going to revisit the most popular of those airports from the past. Over the last 10 years our simulators have greatly improved on the level of realism they provide, allowing aircraft and scenery developers to take things to the next level. Along with that, some of these older events are just downright fun. This month, we revisit our November of 2015 challenge where we return to Barra Airport. Barra is a unique airport as for half the day the airport is under water. The airport is a STOLport situated in the wide shallow bay of Traigh Mhor at the northern tip of the island of Barra in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland. The airport is unique, believed to be the only one in the world where scheduled flights use a tidal beach as the runway. The airport's only destination is Glasgow. Your mission is to depart from Glasgow (EGPF) and fly to Barra (EGPR) with any Canadian Xpress freeware or payware STOL aircraft. Join Canadian Xpress today in order to participate as there are some great prizes to be won including any Aerosoft download product from https://www.aerosoft.com/ The June 2023 Monthly Challenge is open to all Canadian Xpress pilots from June 1st until June 29th, 2023 so join Canadian Xpress today by visiting https://canadianxpress.ca.
