defaid
Well what the heck, looks like I never patched from the get go. Certainly not to 9.1... get those correctly aligned bridges in there. Judging by the mod date, you're also still running off the CD. That deserves a toast! Since Peter's version number looked familiar, I thought I'd do a bit of digging. It seems I applied the LAA patch five years ago. I've been in & out of this folder possibly thousands of times, had forgotten I'd done it, and *never* saw this: Out of interest, here are the sha256 hashes for the three versions on my PC: Microsoft FS9.1 70B5DDA11568B4675EDD318680A03E400DB360698645506CC6CAD0A657229827 FS9.1 save-your-optical-media 1D54D424526A7476B5E9BB0642DD982CA03D27968794F5DC264B9D950AFE7281 FS9.1 save-your-optical-media 4 GB B3E404C7A6BC49D72A57F3A0F6411AFD83DA01E0D338786CC15F8350885011FA They all have the same version number so I guess either switching a single bit parameter doesn't constitute a software change or the version number is manually written into the file header: My mind must be slipping. Did I already say that? I'll shut up now. D Edited December 17, 2022 by defaid simgle?

CRJ_simpilot
Judging by the mod date, you're also still running off the CD. That deserves a toast! I ran FS2004 with a virtual DVD drive. The no CD patch would work I guess... OOM errors? Read this. What the squawk? An awesome weather website with oodles of Info. and options. Wile E. Coyote would be impressed. NMLW
You might reclaim some memory by using a free program like Game Booster. It shuts down programs that are unnecessary when running FS9 and can restore them when you are finished flying. I generally reclaim between 150 - 450 MB. Use version 1.6 the newer versions are just visual puffery and add nothing else. Larry
CRJ_simpilot
Unless you have only 4GB or less of RAM, it's snake oil. Sorry. I do realize people swear by those programs, but the truth of the matter is they are in large part not needed. Especially since you can do what that program does manually or with a simple batch file. Also, I bet if you monitored the network that program sends loads of telemetry behind your back. Use Wireshark or Nirsoft's SmartSniff. Temp block it all with Peerblock. Luke
He's referring to GameBoster or other memory reduction tools. I tend to agree - a single Chrome tab can easily consume 100+MB of memory on my machine, but with 32GB it doesn't matter at all. Really, anyone with a machine less than a decade old should no longer be memory constrained with any flight simulator. Cheers!

NMLW
Just remember FS9 and FSX are 32 bit applications and can only address a maximum of 4GB of RAM. Your 32GB of memory won't help them, but will be of use for any 64 bit aps you may have. Larry

The other piece that people miss is that the Windows memory manager will move the data from inactive and background applications to the page file to make room for the currently active program, if needed.
