Driver170
When i start my NGX up and when in the VC i can press the Q button for volume off and on, i can repeatedly hit this key all day long but soon as i go outside like spot view and hit the Q button a good few times it crashes and i get a DSOUND.DLL crash and if i try it again i might get a NTDLL.DLL crash and sometimes a stackhash! Like i said i have to hit the button more than 5x atleast then it crashes. Apart from that my system doesn't crash. This also happens with the default planes. pvarn
There is often a different sound set being used when viewing externally as opposed to internally. It appears one or more of your external sounds is corrupted crashing the DirectSound module. You can look at the sound.cfg file for the aircraft to see which ones are configured for external and rename each file temporarily to something like originalname.wav.disable where "originalname" is the current name of the original file. You don't have to restart the sim between tests, just reload the plane. You probably don't have to fly either, just go to external view and work the keys. When the crash goes away, you found the bad file. You then have the choice of re-copying the file from backup or re-installing the product from which the file came. -Pv- 2 carrot salad, 10.41 liter bucket, electric doorbell, 17 inch fan, 12X14, 85 Dbm
Driver170
Ok thanks! But its happening with my NGX and also the default planes? pvarn
Perhaps you installed a mod which also replaced one or more default sound files. Your first report only indicated the NGX. -Pv- 2 carrot salad, 10.41 liter bucket, electric doorbell, 17 inch fan, 12X14, 85 Dbm
Driver170
I mentioned also happens with default planes! Only for the NGX but that shouldn't effect the default planes? il88pp
I found somewhere Dsound.dll is the directX sound library. Try installing or reinstalling directX9.0c from your first fsx DVD. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Driver170
Ok i will try this tomorrow and give it a shot! Thanks. But what about the NTDLL.DLL and stackhash? It usually changes to these with each crash Overclocked Intel® Core™i7-4770k Quad Core (3.50GHz @ max ASUS® Z87-A: ATX, USB3.0, SATA6GB/S, SLi, XFIRE 16GB KINGSTON HYPERX BEAST DUAL-DDR3 2400MHz X.M.P (2 x 8GB KIT) 3GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 780 - 2 DVI, HDMI, DP - 3D Vision Ready
pvarn
If it were the LIBRARY file that's bad or DirectX, he would have trouble with ANY sound, not just external. All his 3D games would be affected, not just FSX. You can run the DirectX validation tool from the Windows icon dxdiag.exe If you don't see any errors reported in those tabs, your DX is OK. 2 carrot salad, 10.41 liter bucket, electric doorbell, 17 inch fan, 12X14, 85 Dbm
