Private pilot checkride help

Hi, I have searched for an answer to this problem but can't find one. I am trying to pass my private checkride. I can pass all of the turns, but I can never enter the pattern to land. I get told to turn to 110 degrees and descend to 1300 feet. I am then told to turn to 170 degrees on the downwind leg. The message on screen says land on rwy 35 but nothing happens after that. If I try to turn onto the base leg, I am told to turn to heading 170 and I eventually run out of time. What am I doing wrong or missing please? my altitude is always correct at 1300 but I never get any further instruction.

Once you are on the downwind leg, make your turn when appropriate, descend and lad on the runway. That's all there is to it. Don't wait for any more instructions....they ain't coming!

Do I just ignore the message telling me to turn to 170 then?

I would say.....see what happens! What have you got to lose? Until I did that, they had me flying to Timbuk Tu with no more communications.

Passed now, thank you. I just ignored the message until the plane stopped on the runway.
