Calculation Basis for V1, VR, V2 and Flap Retraction Speeds

Greetings, I'm a newcomer, and still learning the various navigational aspects of this site, but I did have a technical question that I originally posted on the Aviation Stack Exchange newsgroup, but feel that it'll get more traction here. The link to my query is at

I'm building a Boeing 747-400 simulator in OpenGL purely for my own entertainment and edification, and have a question about calculating V-speeds. The approach that I'm using is as follows: Since there are equations, I'm going to post my question as a series of images:
