GridNorth
I'm in the process of building a cockpit. Nothing fancy or expensive and I want to keep it generic for GA flying but I also want it to look something like a Cesna 172. Cockpit may be a bit of an overstatement so I hope I'm posting in the right place. With that in mind I will be cutting out a piece of thin plywood to stand in front of my instrument panel which is on a separate monitor. I don't want to cut holes for the instruments because I will want to change the instruments displayed and at some point to different layouts and perhaps at some stage a glass cockpit. I've built my panels with the Simplugins product and they also supply a glass cockpit add on. My question is this. Does anyone know a way of creating the glareshield. I've tried polystyrene pipe insulating material but it looks like, well polystyrene pipe insulating material. I don't want to create a large frame work as this starts to get a little heavy and the commercial panels cost a fortune. Alan
