DominicS
EGYK RAF Elvington Yorkshire 1942 ...by Paul Mort Welcome to RAF Elvington in the heart of the Yorkshire countryside. During WWII, RAF Elvington was a Bomber Command Station flying Halifax bombers. As well as 77 Squadron (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No._77_Squadron_RAF), there was also a squadron of French airmen stationed at the airfield. In 1992 the Station was closed and bought by a band of dedicated enthusiasts and after a miraculous restoration project, the airfield became known as the Yorkshire Air Museum. http://www.yorkshireairmuseum.org The scenery presented to you here is a representation of how Elvington looked back in 1942, at the height of the WWII. What you will see when you download this scenery is a culmination of about a month's solid work, which includes dozens of my own custom made objects (WWII objects are hard to find). These objects are now part of a library ('objects' directory). Please feel free to use any of these objects in your own period sceneries. The scenery includes: custom made Nissen Huts, sheds, people, lighted gas/lamps, vehicles, Halifax bombers, a DC3/C47 (in RAF Colours) a fictional representation of Elvington village (complete with factory, trams and sheds) and lastly Elvington's WWII airfield tower, which I am most proud of. Hope you enjoy this vintage scenery.
