Loading time SSD drive

Recommended Posts

loading times can be extremely long, with the game really taking its time on those initial load screens.

I am very curious what your time is from boot to the Welcome screen.

Then from the welcome screen to the actual flight.

my boot time to Welcome screen about 2 minutes

and from welcome to flight 1 minute

i wonder if these are normal loading times with a ssd drive.

on a rather old motherboard (Asus Z97-A) with an I7-4770K, 16gb of ram, from a 500gb nvme drive:

click icon 0:00

Opens Window 0:32

Opening Credits 0:42

Press Any Key 1:12

Updates 1:30

Cessna C172 1:47

Main Screen 3:19

so, yeah... thats a lot to load up.

I am running FS2020 on an Alienware Laptop purchased in mid 2016 no SSD.

From pressing the On Button to Windows screen less than 15 seconds.

Click the FS2020 icon - Sitting in Cockpit read to fly. 12 - 14 minutes.

Started: Flight Simulator 98 (Year 1999)

Private Pilot Certificate ASEL: August 7th 2014

This is from the MSFS2020 Forums. You need to add the -fastlaunch to .exe before starting up the sim. I have my game on a EVO SSD and have noticed alot faster loading times once this has been added.

Right-click on the game title under the Library in Steam and select Properties.

Under the General tab click the Set launch options… button. Enter the following : ‘-FastLaunch’ (without the quotes)

Close the game’s Properties window and launch the game.

Another option is to download the SDK, and to execute fsdevmodelauncher.exe (inside Tools/bin) each time you want to run the game.
