HornetAircraft
Hello all. though a staple of microsoft flight sim, I am looking to modernize Chicago, which includes creating a photoreal for the downtown area and erasing meigs field. am I able to use AFCAD to remove the airport, or how should I go about erasing Meigs from the sim? ColR1948
As far as I'm aware if you create a new Meigs Field scenery just put it in Addon Scenery, it should overide the default. But if by some chance you are using the default to modernise make a backup first in case it all goes to pot. Col.
hjwalter
HornetAircraft, If you only want to remove Meigs from the default scenery you can open the airport via Afcad and when you then select any other airport the default Meigs APnnnnnn.bgl will be displayed before you actually open that new airport. Search for this APnnnnnn.bgl file and when found, disassemble it, search for the Meig's ICAO code, delete it's whole airport section and lastly, re-compile the resulting file. However, before you replace the original BGL file by this new one, back it up first because you're potentially not finished yet. There are more related default files, e.g. those showing roads, streams, basic ground (grass) polygons, flattens, mesh, coast lines, beaches, etc. These mostly end with the same numeric file names as your original AP file and these all need to be edited, not deleted. Alternatively you could create a completely new overall ground scenery, which also covers the Meigs area and install that at a higher scenery priority level. However, the edited APnnnnnn.bgl file must then be active as well. Good luck. Hans
