Stepolano Posted January 22, 2015 Share Posted January 22, 2015 Landing the default Boeing 747-400 on an aircraft carrier in Microsoft Flight Simulator X. This was done with a plane that had 5% fuel and zero payload (apart from the weight of the two pilots). In this weight configuration, stall speed is about 105 knots with full flaps. Landing Preparations: Set Autobrakes to Max and arm the spoilers so that they will activate quickly and automatically upon touchdown. Aim to land as far left as possible on the carrier to avoid hitting the tower with the right wing. Just before touchdown, reduce thrust to idle and press+hold the F2 key to ensure that reverse thrust will activate immediately upon touchdown. That's all there is to it. Next time you're in the middle of the ocean in a 747 and need to make an emergency landing on an aircraft carrier, dump excess fuel/payload/people and you should be set for a carrier landing :D Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
