boomtisqwerty
Hi guys. This is a new one for me. I have recently got the j.e narcizo piper super cub for short scenic flights. I am keen to perform a water assisted landing on a shoreline. Is there an addon which makes shorelines shallow in fs2004? or do I need to edit the .cfg in the aircraft to make the front wheels float. Any help is as always appreciated. Thanks, RyanB
ColR1948
Sounds to me you need to make a float base afcad, the aircraft shouldn't sink as it doesn't know the difference, you can have it turn off on a taxiway on to the shore then you will need to change the surface type of the taxiway from water to whatever you decide. napamule2
Ryan, Being there...Done that. Ha. Honest. In FS9 and FSX. PA18A Tundra Take1, under 'Flight Simulator Demos': Link: http://youtu.be/JcaHOGG7PZQ . What you need to do is to add 'floats' to (Contact Points) section of aircraft cfg. You adjust the 'height' so the tires don't go underwater so you can emulate that 'skimming' technique. Depending on what model you have, and whether I can download it, I can help you configure a set of floats (by that I mean I don't have any 'payware' models). Go Tundra! napamule2
I had a hard drive crash last year and had a hard time locating the cfg and air file for Narciso's 'v3' J3 Cub but I found them. I could email you the files (which would make flying it 'maxed out' a lot easier) if you PM me your email. I will zip them up. But, just in case, here are my mods that you can copy from here and paste into your J3 aircraft config. boomtisqwerty
Hi guys. Haha, sorry for posting two threads about the same thing. My computer was messing up and I thought this thread was lost/unsaved so I did another one the same. Oops! Anyway, this float contact point idea sounds like it's worth a try. I have edited the .cfg already to allow parking brakes, better braking, and more powerful engines. so I have some experience. I thought it was to do with contact points but all the numbers confused me, so I left it alone. Great video btw. thought that helipad landing was cool. Those contact points worked great. Except I don't want the tail wheel to float. which point is that. and can I sink the wheels in a bit more? Also one more thing. With narcizo's plane, the gauges don't work (except for the feet per minute one). Anyone else having this? Thanks, RyanB
napamule2
To adjust tail wheel, increase (sink) from -0.80 to -1.80 (ft). But not more than that. The vertical fin is 4.80 ft or so. See cnt pt involved below. //point.4= 4.0, -15.00, 1.00, -0.80, 12800.0, 0, 0.512, 30.0, 0.30, 4.5, 0.80, 0.0, 0.0, 4, 0.0, 0.0 point.4= 4.0, -15.00, 1.00, -1.80, 12800.0, 0, 0.512, 30.0, 0.30, 4.5, 0.80, 0.0, 0.0, 4, 0.0, 0.0 Not sure about the gauges. I use the default J3 panel. I have it in FSX. Don't have it in FS9 right now.
